    My 1972 521 flat bed

720 seat had to be narrowed at the top of the seat back, then full on custom red & black Tartan inserts on the seat & the door panels! Will eventually have the dash top pad & headliner done, perhaps with some simple red stitching. I'm hoping I can fit the 1980 720 OEM rubber floor mat, as it's in decent condition, but I also have a NEW carpet set in black if not!
  2. I grabbed this truck up in Fall 2019, found LOCALLY, don't know where it might have come from! In the garage, you can see the tail gate of the 1980 720 parts truck, where I have already pulled the 77k original mile L20B, the matching 5speed & the matching rear axle. I have a Weber 32/36 for it & am currently detailing the engine before poking it in. The original doors are badly cut up inside & both have some rust & bondo, so found a pair of rock solid original paint doors in white. Original lower front valence is the same story, badly cut up (tow behind bar??), so found a nice straight one in tan!
  3. Welcome! My 1972 521 flat bed 😎 I have a 77k mile 1980 720 L20B to go in, matching 5speed, matching rear axle, 8in wide chrome reverse steelies for the rear, custom upholstery & will build a single exhaust stack! To post pics on your PC, pull up your "reply" window, scroll down a little, in lower left corner see paper clip icon "Drag file or choose file.........." (I use choose file), pics must be on the smaller side 😁
  4. .........and yet, all of the illegal immigrant CRIMINALS out of Mexico & South America are crossing into the USA every day................πŸ˜’
  5. Pulled off of their website! They are today's electronic technology, so hopefully long term & NOT "planned obsolescence" like TV's, computers etc etc! πŸ˜’ How it all started 123ignition has been active in the field of classic cars for more than 15 years and through this became a respected brand. The company started in 1992 and from 2001 fully focused on electronic ignition systems. The first prototype ignition was born out of passion a couple of years before. A project was started to provide an electronic ignition for a CitroΓ«n 2CV. This turned out to be such a great success that the project was turned into a product. Meanwhile, the assortment expanded more and more, and we can now offer a suitable product for many old timers.
  6. The broad answer is NO on Ivermectin & hydrochloriquin here in the good ol' USA. Both have been PROVEN to be very effective in treating Covid, which is what infuriates good honest doctors that wanted to use them & people that have paid attention to groups like americanfrontlinedoctors etc. Why banned for use?? Theory is that since they were both already on the market, cheap compared to the vaccine & ultimately available at the beginning (they were both quickly BANNED), the big pharma's would not have been able to make the BILLIONS of dollars that they were forecast to make on the vaccines. It is/was never about the people, always about the money...................fuck them 😑
  7. Another choice is from 123distributor. They are NOT cheap, but you install & plug into your computer to dial in. We have used a couple in some vintage race cars.........VERY COOL technology!
  8. We use a title service here in Denver, for pretty much ANY situation, including no title & no known last registered owner. To me, it is well worth the cost of paying them, cuz they should know exactly what to do & who to talk to at your DMV. Apparently, the Vermont loophole allowing you to get a bill of sale by vin # is still viable................I've just never done it!

    OEM radio question

We have used a few Retrosound units in various classic cars, look good & work great for your basic good sound system! You should be able to find dimensions on their website, cuz you will have to do that footwork...........they probably don't even know what a Datsun is!! πŸ˜†
  10. Check ALL related grounds, clean bulb sockets, clean & soak fusebox, turnsignal & headlight switches in white vinegar. Most of the lighting etc is all tied together.......you should see various circuits/wires running thru switches, that might not make sense, but that's what they did!
  11. Unlike most domestic muscle cars, for example, I'm not aware of any "build sheet" info available for any Datsun's.............in other words, no option listings, no sales info, no color connection to a vin etc. As datzenmike points out, the aluminum tag in the engine compartment shows the vin # & the engine #............that's about it!
  12. Did you find the thermo housing you need? If not, I should have a good USED one..................PM me if still needed! PS I think the above housing is an L16...............it will not have the large threaded hole for the L20B vacuum switch, but it WILL bolt up! It is a good way to clean up the number of threaded holes, if you are not using the vac switch etc! TJ
  13. I'd be reporting Biden himself, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi etc etc! THEY are the issue. Would that get anywhere, no. Would they turn on me, maybe. Fuktards πŸ˜’
  14. Ugh.......hope it doesn't ruin it 😣
  15. I'm in Denver area, never really cared to own, but like it's been said, with today's bullshit going on, I am considering it. Got plenty of buddies that CC & OC to guide me, including a cop or two! Fetch, if you get back here to CO & are in the Denver area, let me know..............we are big Datsun nuts, me into 510's, at work into vintage race Z cars 😎 TJ
  16. Hopefully only glued along the flange, NOT on the 3+ inch wide rail where you were pointing with the pen! As mrbigtanker said, the headliner "floats" & hangs from the bows everywhere in the middle, except where it is glued all around at the front, rear & side flanges. Do you have the necessary "hardware" at the top of the C pillar? There was a piece of masonite at the top that gave it the crisp straight edge, where it overlaps the headliner. I don't remember from your thread if you bought as a mostly complete car or in pieces.....?? I will have the "hardware".............PM if you need! I have seen upholstery shops try other approaches, which usually look like crap!
  17. I think so too! I have always taken classic car locks to an old school locksmith, familiar with old school lock cylinders!
  18. The automotive aftermarket like this IS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!!!! SEMA is fighting tooth & nail for it, but because it is government, it is near impossible. The current administration is pushing EV (and quite a few ARE monetarily invested ie Jennifer Granholm). The overall carbon footprint of EV is huge & they are ignoring the future of that carbon footprint. I don't know these guys in the video at this shop here in Colorado, cuz it is a different "arm" of the industry that I was only involved with from around 1998-2006.......i see Sport Compact cars in that shop. I'm currently involved in mostly classic/vintage, but we do some late model cars too. I have a buddy with a small classic car shop that can tune his cars to run CLEANER with an aftermarket Weber 32/36 carb, but in any state or county etc where they do a visual "aftermarket/emission" inspection, they will fail the cars............EVEN WHEN THEY RUN CLEANER!!! It is ridiculous. FYI Colorado recently adopted California's CARB emission standards, so this industry here is now at HUGE risk.......just like these poor guys. Sorry Mike, I simply do not agree..................the EPA is stroking us...............😣
  19. As Hainz points out, ALL early cars of any make will start with the manual trans in gear...........the need to hold in clutch pedal was a Federally mandated rule that all automakers had to comply with...........my guess some time in the 80's. All of today's manual cars, you must hold the clutch pedal down to start the car. You mentioned the "clutch pedal switch" in an earlier post..........unplug it, remove it, whatever........it does nothing at this point & is not a switch to override the starting process. Hope that clears that up!
  20. I do get it! Been to IRL twice on holiday, didn't see much in terms of classic cars. We were walking to the pub one evening in Ballyvaughan (west coast), I looked in a window of a garage along the sidewalk & saw 3-4 classic cars inside! Was years ago, but there was at least a Triumph Vitesse, can't remember the others! Happy to help if I can! TJ
  21. I think the later 280ZX struts will work fine. If you are using your original coil spring and it is the same diameter as the 280ZX spring perch, it should be a bolt in. If the spring perch is larger, then you can see if your smaller coil spring seats properly in the larger perch (??). If not, then you will have to swap perches or go to coil over springs. The earlier Z car (260Z) has a different "camber angle" at the lower knuckle, compared to the 68-73 510, the 78-80 510 & the 610, so I don't think that is what you want. I am not familiar enough with the 710, but I think datzenmike explained most of the earlier!
  22. I think that clutch switch was an emission switch........?? Maybe had to do with the dual points switch box?? Pretty much useless on a 50 yr old car! Did you figure out the automatic neutral safety switch jumper wire, or you did not need to do it? I wrote up a thread here on how to do it 9-10 yrs ago, but can't remember which wires at this point!! 😣
  23. ..........and the heater core.......pull it out, take to an old school radiator shop for pressure testing & possible repair. Other option is find a USED one & do the same thing!
  24. You can buy a Datsun 240Z heater valve from Nissan, use the internal parts to rebuild your 620 valve. We have also used a simple universal inline heater valve for a couple engine swaps that did not allow room for the stock heater tubes thru the firewall..............no reason you couldn't do that in a stock application, just requires some simple fabrication/imagination work. If you use one of these universal inline valves, it will likely be further away, thus you would need a longer operating cable. Here in the States, many of our plain old push lawnmowers use a SOLID CORE throttle cable. Buy a lawnmower throttle cable kit, toss the handle, cut the cable to length, bend the ends to suit the Datsun & good to go! 😎
  25. I think he means Shell Rotella? πŸ˜†
