Another Datsunville project. Some saved Datsuns don't become Ratsun write ups. and end up getting sold before they're finished. or abandoned. 😞

 

Not enough time in the day to do them all. :)

 

Picked up this early 70 4 door a year ago. Looked like a pile, However once we got started with it realized, its not all that bad. Sacramento Car back in it's day and found in a field by the person I got it from.

 

 

Slapped some cool Japanese wheels on it and BANG big difference

 

 

 

 

Every other window was broke, so as we cleaned, I found good CLEAR glass and got it installed. Most 70 models have tinted glass, this car has clear and 69 door panels

 

 

 

Now we get to see what we are working with, Trunk and rear lower quarters are the worst of it all. 95% of everything else is tittes. 

 

 

 

 

Pressure washed this thing inside and out with bleach, Now sanding and wire wheel time.

Zero Rust claims to go directly over rust, however I like to sand and clean all the loose rust and scale off 1st

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Off to Chinos for an engine swap

Still has not fired, no spark. A follow Datsun friend is doing the engine work. however he only shows up once in a while

took a long datsun hiatus so glad to see datsunville still exists... good job James thanks for saving all these dimes.  Jdm wheels did make it look way better already!

Slow progress as always, Old friend of mine Tim is doing this one. Still has not spark, so on to other areas of the car.

 

Rear breaks

Same stuff as always, free rusty nuts, and break adjusters. new break cylinders, lines and whatever else is needed while apart.

 

 

Slapped some wheels o it to move it in the shop getting ready for rain. Here in Cali wtf is that?

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rear breaks checked and now all working, now for front coilovers and drop it like its hot.

Friday night thing little Blue pill came alive and drives stops etc. We had are Datsunville fall campout and accomplished even more goodness.

Window time and paint match time

 

 

Decided to vinyl this area, didn't need padding but used it anyway, scraps to fill in the complete area. 

 

 

I fought the window install for 2 days and gave up. Fletchers Auto Glass fixed some fixed some rock chips and glued em in.

Now we got color, comes the fun. Finding better panels and painting stuff. Not like I usually paint stuff with days on days of tedious work. Trying something new.

Also stripping the front end for coilover and new shit, and inner wheel wells and coating everything with Zero Rust

 

 

 

 

I intentionally snap the bolts, most time they break anyway.

Going for an old blue patina look, so rolling an industrial enamel with a hardener additive, then wet sand and buff should get me there.

 

 

 

 

 

Rust repair 101 next

Good morning Ratsun

 

Color looks great, even before distressing, patina here we come.

 

 

Getting all the front end parts together, changing parts out when i find even better parts. New ball joints tie rods etc

 

 

As it goes in any shop shit gets scattered everywhere, decided to dedicate this cart to Blue Pill.  Good times

 

 

Also came across control arms and T/C rods with euro bushings. the T/C rod bushing have already been drill, sweet.

 

After modifying struts, I realized I had a set already modded for VW rabbit inserts. Look and the difference. I want this bitch on the ground.

New coilover kit, been sitting in the sun and faded, 

 

New VW KYB inserts, how to install them correctly.......

 

 

 

 

Bolts in the bottom, so vise has something to hold.

 

 

T3 camber plates and bearing top hats for the win.
