]2eDeYe
Crack is whack, yo! Thankfully the Datsun gods keep giving. I was notified by Fucking Ted that there was a manifold for sale. Paid yesterday, should be headed my way Monday. Thanks Ted and Mike (guy with the parts). I installed the new cable, pain in the ass until I discovered the correct technique. Install the entire cable from below, and then run it up through the engine bay. It's a way down there... Got some close enough blue engine paint and sprayed the pan. Will wait until the throttle linkage is back on the engine before I put that back on. Oh yeah, the exhaust manifold is a batch of parts, getting the intake and carbs as well so now the spare parts pile grows. 3 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
You can use all your skills you have developed over the years on various Datsun projects Into the KA 411 Wagon, once you are ready for the challenge! LOL Wow, I keep writting BS statements like that and they will want me to be a politician! LOL Have fun with your goon Redeye. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Well so far keeping it stock has been far more challenging than just KA swapping it. That fucking shift cable was an adventure in itself. Having a blast with it, I may see if I can cut some new rotors at work. :D 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I know of 2 411s that were swapped to 5 speeds because the people could not get that cable. Nice job saving the auto goon! Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
That's a shame. I can make more as needed. I should probably order up a couple and make a few for posterity. Fixed up the console. The washer did not work so I used some thicker styrene I had laying around. Worked out pretty good, if I find ones in good shape I will likely reinforce it in a similar way only I'll probably try to make it look cleaner. New epoxy specific for plastic. First get the boss back to one with the plastic. Then on to some reinforcement, I tried to pull the curve out of it the housing and was somewhat successful. Crack is still whack New hardware, had to mod he center fastener. Some jerk lost the choke cable nut. :( The panel is super solid now though. :) Also got the new rear brake line installed. Just in time I think. 4 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Nah, that brake line a a few good years left in er, but only if it was driven as much as it was in the few years before you bought it. Nice job on the plastic repair/reinforcement/retrofit/rebuild. 3 Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
Send it to Jrock for the white truck! lol :) 5 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
May keep it as a souvenir. It made it all the way to Canby and back  3 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Seems like alot of work for a funny looking little car . she says. . 3 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Isn't it though. One needle found, hopefully they are all in this haystack somewhere. ...and the spares pile accumulates. These will need a rebuild. Should be getting package 2 of 2 today with an intake and valve cover. This will have the steel coolant line I need. Decided to pull the bumper to see how it looks. Not to bad, will have to see it on the ground though. Then decided to pull the springs to drop the front a little. Note: disconnect the brake line first.... I've got a replacement on the way. Drivers side is pulled, will maybe have the passenger out this weekend and then I'll cut 1.5 rings off. That seems to be the general consensus as to the optimum height adjustment. :) I also have some other bit's on order, that dual cable grommet for one. I think I may get the exhaust ceramic coated, anyone have long term experience with these type of coatings? 3 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
More parts in. :) ...and the elusive RL411 washer bottle or early 240 style if you want to get one of your own. :) Will add these pics to the 411 under hood thread. :) 6 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Bottle also looks like a 620. Nice work Redeye. Next summer I would steam clean under the hood and under the goon as best as you can. I hate working on vehicles that have 50 years of oil and grease build up. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
620 is totally different, I have a few of those laying around  I've been soaking everything in simple green, it's been kinda fun cracking the crust off this thing :) 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Does Simple Green freeze? Quote Link to comment

hobospyder
Thanks. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I used to use straight Simple Green in my parts washer. Sure beat running chemical solvents over your skin. 2 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I still use rubber gloves with that stuff. 2 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
I never was able to keep the chemical stuff off of me. I would always manage to splash it all over me. That is the reason I went to Simple Green. Now if I have a really bad grungy part I take to my engine rebuilders and have it hot tank and glassbeaded. Other wise I wire wheel and scrap what I can of and then drop the smaller part in an old gallon of nasty carb cleaner. 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I through stuff in the vat and leave it for awhile. :) 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
A little off the bottom. I found a crack on the exhaust manifold. I am just going to weld it up and run it. Then I will concentrate on getting some flanges cut so I can build a header. This will be better in the long run, as I can run a bit bigger exhaust to let the motor breath a bit better. :) 4 Quote Link to comment
reza
Good score on the exhaust manifold, Looks like its coming along nicely. Interested to see how your front end drops with the 1.5 coils cut out. 2 Quote Link to comment
