DRIVEN
Never even heard of those before. Are they at all related to our 310 (US) or early Sentra? Almost makes make my car look roomy. Link to comment
sanitys
that would be a great little car, and it looks to be in great condition Link to comment
motavated
I dont think its a 1972... Look at the AC air vents! more like the 90's..... Used the 72 year just too legaly register it in the US... Link to comment

sanitys
on the wiki it says it gets 69mpg if you go a constant speed of 38mph. thought that was interesting. If they are so rare I wonder why the owner put it as the wrong year? Link to comment
yellowdatsun
They put the wrong year on purpose. You can't legally import anything easily that is younger than 25 years old. Due to emissions and safety requirements. That's the reason you don't see any Skylines over here. Anything over 25 years old is considered an "antique", and is therefore alowed to enter more easily. Hence the date discrepancy. Someone duped the customs agents into thinking this was a 1972, just so they could import it. Customs papers probably had to be given to the DMV to register is, and got stuck with the 1972 paperwork. If you tried to import one of these stating it was a mid-90's car, it would be stuck in customs forever, labled as "off-road-use-only", or sent back to the country of origin. I wouldn't want to be the new owner, having to deal with potential issues about the year later down the road. Link to comment
MikeRL411
Looks like what the Japanese refer to as a Secretary Car. Secretaries live at home until they get married at 25. Food is free. No rent. Mom always takes her shopping and buys clothes for the office. Poor Girl! Nothing to do with her salary but buy a cute little car, party with her friends and buy clothes her mother doesn't want to see her wear. Link to comment
datsunaholic
Considering it wasn't built until at least 1989, yeah, someone got fancy with the paperwork. Link to comment

sanitys
well canadas rule is 15 yrs if i recall, and once the car is in canada its alot easier getting it in the states, some people go this route. also you can get a show only title that its only allowed so many miles per year to drive to car shows, and then you can spend all the cash to get it fully legal, but your probably right with the saying its a 72 because of title stuff. still a cool car Link to comment
