Because we are not in Canada, and every insurance company only looks out for themselves. (CAPITALISM) When have any companies ever given a lower price for profits/surplus? Too much greed in this country for that to ever happen

But what if the insurer is the government???????? Now there's a concept. They don't do it to make money, they are not profit driven. In theory it's to break even every year. You guys are bent over and well fucked regularly and convinced by the insurance for profit companies that it's un-American to want/expect better. Run those fuckers out of town on a rail.

Don't forget accountability, apparently only found in the profit driven sector.

Balance between the two seems elusive, we've got a little of everything here and the worst of it too

Yes because profit demands accountability for the lack of it.

Fuck it, ill vote for you.

Wait, cant, RW is not Murican.

Yet the secret ballot is really the "Austrailian Ballot".  Yhank you Ozzies for saving us the embarasment of walking to the far corners or raising our hands in public to toss the buggers out!  So much for New England style Town Meeting elections!  Screw New Hampshire!

Thank you mate. One thing RW prides himself on is his extensive general knowledge on innumerable subjects.

I may have known about the secret ballot system in the past, but, had forgotten.

Thanls for the reminder!

Health care is a very complicated issue.   So is how to pay for it.   I think one of the things missing is competition in that industry.  Another factor, is the consumer is removed from from the actual cost of a lot of treatment by not having an actual cost on what most things cost, so when grandma is sick with cancer, or Susie has a broken leg, we want the best, most expensive care available.

A system on how to pay for it is to form a group, and spread the costs out on the whole group.   One way is to have a private for profit insurance company, another way is to have a government agency administer the costs.   Both systems insulate the consumer from the cost, and that removes any incentive to control the costs.  Insurance companies are in business to make money, and will take their cut.  Government systems on the other hand, do not have the accountability of a private for profit business, and government agencies exist first of all to grow, and perpetuate themselves.   Keep in mind every employee of a government agency probably has a better pay, and benefit package, including health care, than you do, unless you also work for a government agency.   i do not know what is worse, a for profit insurance company, or an inefficient government agency always trying to spend and grow its annual budget every year.

Insurance costs, other than health care is based on risk.  But with health care, that is not so.  There is no incentive to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  That too drives costs up for the group.   One idea, is to require regular check ups, and if you are doing something that is risky, you get offered a plan to change your behaviour.  If you smoke whatever, you get a plan to stop it.  If you comply with the plan, your cost goes down.  Same idea with weight, diet, and exercise, and other unhealthy choices.

I have heard that at some hospitals, you can prepay for elective procedures.  If you are planning on starting, or growing your family, notify the hospital, and prepay, and because the hospital knows the procedure will be paid, that eliminated the risk of the hospital not getting paid.

If it was easier to have a medical savings account set up, that too could be a factor to reduce insurance costs.  Allow people to use money pretax to set up the MSA, and make it easy.  Walk into your bank, credit union, or investment firm, say "I want an MSA" and once you have that, any money you put into it gets deducted from your gross pay, and you do not pay taxes on it.  You can even pay monthly health insurance premiums from the MSA, as long as the balance of the MSA stays above a threshold, you pay a lower insurance rate, because you are not using insurance to cover the costs, and again, the hospital can reduce your costs, because they know they are going to be paid.

We need more insurance choices, across state lines.   Competition reduces prices.   We need the ability where a person could choose a local hospital, and the hospital would be the insurance issuing business, and again, working with you, set up plans to encourage you to have a more healthy lifestyle.

In short, we need a system where there is more competition with health care insurance companies, and the consumer has more control over how tax deferred money from a MSA is spent.

What we do not need is a government program where you required to pay for a government agency, and also a for profit insurance company.

I thought Seattle was a gun free zone?

heck yeah! violent lefty rioters live longer in states where concealed carry is not an option and where they know the local PDs have been told to stand if it's an SJW mob doing the damage. these are not really riots, these are blue state-approved Kristallnachts.

No jail time for CVS fire hose cutter?

November 7, 2016, 12:05 PM

I read in The Sun that Gregory Lee Butler, who punctured a fire hose as firefighters were trying to extinguish the CVS pharmacy fire during the Baltimore riots, will get no prison time ("Man who punctured fire hose during Baltimore riot gets 3 years federal probation," Nov. 3). This pharmacy was the life blood of the community for prescriptions, medical advising, and household needs.

Mr. Butler received three years of federal supervision and 250 hours of community service and is required to pay $1 million in restitution.

So Chris Christie and Newt Gingrich as (tentative) members of President Trump's cabinet is "draining the swamp"?

Sorry , I just don't believe it.
