bananahamuck
Or just walk into minigolf place and purchase,,,,,,, then walk out. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Or just walk into minigolf place and purchase,,,,,,, then walk out. I buy them from HLJ because it's about half the price (or less) compared to buying them in the states. But I also understand paying for convenience. ^_^ 1 Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Wow, this thread fell back some. How about a Datsun bump. My awesome girl bought me the 620 Monster Truck Wrecker for Christmas. Turned out not bad for not building a model since I was about 14. The tilt hood and the windshield are a pain in the ass, but other than that it was pretty straight forward. 6 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
That's bad ass, I didnt know they had a monster truck one. My dad just got me the 3 in one 620 by mpc, now I just need time to build it. 2 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Just found this thread. I used to build model cars when I was a kid, and then my now wife bought me an F-18 model back in 2012 that got me hooked into the hobby again. I'm pretty slow going. Some of them take me a year or two to complete, and I blame most of that on me hating to clean the airbrush. I've done engine swaps, scratch built engine compartments, 3D printed front air dams, etc. etc. Datsun roadster, custom front airdam, TE37's, and SR20 turbo swap. Mom found this for me for Xmas. She got it from Hobby Lobby, in case anyone was looking. Finished this R390 a long time ago. It's a great kit from Tamiya. This R34 Z-tune is a "streetside" kit from Tamiya, meaning no opening hood or engine. I cut the hood out, built the engine compartment, and dropped in an RB26 from an R32 kit. GT350 is from AMT. Hasegawa F-18 and Revell A-10 in the old camo paint scheme. Hakosuka Skyline, from Tamiya. A great kit for the money. And my most recent completion, an AH-1Z from Kittyhawk. Never built a Kittyhawk kit before, but it was pretty good. Would definitely buy another one. 6 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Damn, nice skills. Thanks. I have a BRE 240Z, Tamiya F-16 Block 50, and Tamiya R32 on the shelf still. I'm saving my pennies for this. (Hand for scale.) Full working suspension and steering. 5 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Thanks. I have a BRE 240Z.. I'm saving my pennies for this. (Hand for scale.) Full working suspension and steering. Speaking of ZG kits, ever seen a 240Z kit with flares but a normal nose? I need that, but didn't want to have to buy two kits and merge them. I am not scared of doing it, just cheap... ^_^ 1 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Fujimi isn’t too bad. I also found this “aero” ZG: https://www.jdm-shop.de/Accessories/Models/Datsun-S30-240z-Fairlady-Z-AERO-CUSTOM-Model-Kit-AOSHIMA-1-24.html?language=en 1 Quote Link to comment

I actually ended up ordering one of these. Based on example photos I could find online, it seemed to have the most accurate flares. But none of them are what I would call perfect... ^_^ 2 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
I actually ended up ordering one of these. And it came in today! Body casting is very nice. Oddly, the flares are separate pieces, and of course they don't have the indentions for the rivets so I'll have to get crafty there... Comes with stock hubcaps and a nice deep set of Wats... Comes with a complete S20 twin cam engine... And a complete L-series engine... Actually comes with 3 dashes, a LHD and a RHD dash for the regular Z, and a RHD dash for the Z432R... And for unexplained reasons, it came with this parts tree for a C10 Skyline GT-R? I assume that was the easiest way for them to include the GT-Rs twin exhaust tips, which the Z432R also came with... It comes with a BRE style rear spoiler, as well as the Z432R spoiler. It's a very nice kit if you're looking for a "low budget" 240Z kit to build. I would recommend it. 3 Quote Link to comment

Chuck Most
Not too shabby for a six hour project. Tamiya Honda Today from 1986. Biggest problem was getting the 34 year old decals to cooperate. 3 Quote Link to comment
