DaBlist
Anybody every here or know why they didn't offer the coupes here in the states? By far my favorite Japanese classic and it's hard to think that Datsun thought Americans would buy the 2dr sdn but not the coupe. Many European company's made sports models focused on selling to America. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Something about that doesn't look right to me. I don't think it's an import from Japan. Any experts care to shed some light? That's a South African built coupe, not a Japanese one. Lots of little differences. Quote Link to comment

By far my favorite Japanese classic and it's hard to think that Datsun thought Americans would by the 2dr sdn but not the coupe. Many European company's made sports models focused on selling to America. I've always read it was mostly price? With the 510s being $2000-2200, the Coupes would have sold for about $3000. Which is very close to the price of the Roadster/240Z. How many Americans would have spent 50% more money just to have a "fancy" 510? I doubt very many would have... Because Americans eat too much beef to fit in the back seat. If you believe their advertising from the time, size is an issue. They were overly concerned with selling cars here that "fit" the average American. Quote Link to comment
