blackdeth666
Thanks hacked I'm really excited how its turning out. Got the pass side stepup done today, pics soon to follow. And as I was cleaning up my driveway this morning, I realized someone stole my transmission! I guess I won't be trying to unstick it from 3rd after all.... Fucking tweakers. 1 Quote Link to comment
67 411
That sucks man. You gotta watch out for those guys that drive around and look for scrap they will take anything they can carry. Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
If it`s the stock 4 speed with the bolt on yolk , i got one kicking around here also ...not stuck in gear. Quote Link to comment
sinner720st
will the 720 5speed match up to the bell housing you need (L motor bell housing bolted to the 720 transmission) Quote Link to comment
jon521
i also have a good 4 speed with the bolt up yoke instead of the slip yoke. but id suggest go with a 5 speed while your at it! Quote Link to comment
blackdeth666
Bob thanks for the encouragement! I remember reading through that build. very nice. It was my 5 speed dogleg they took. and now its gettin scrapped just for a couple bucks.... I do have a stock 4 speed but Im hoping to put in the 720 5speed when i get it. My new brake worked pretty good. got a few things done. passenger side is done, forgot to grab a pic. but heres the driver side ready to weld in. I wont be running a bumper so i cut the mounts off to clean up the engine bay. cut off the torsion bar cross member. FUCKING COMMITED NOW! lol love it Also started to wire wheel the frame, its cleaning up nice! Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
if the trans is from a Z eries motor it will have a angle to it(15deg). youll need the bellhousing form the earlier dogleg to put on I believe. But Datzenmike can fill in the blanks Quote Link to comment

blackdeth666
Thanks guys! I love having a build thread, everyones feedback and words are great. its keeping me motivated! I have to say, I do not have a mentor on this project and I have never done this before. I havent really even done much metal fab since high school, and I'm almost 24 now. I was super into it then. I just had the urge to do this and said fuck it. I'm gonna take my DD and CUT IT COMPLETLY APART and hope it works out. I'm just running off of a plan in my head and what I THINK will work. I really dont know what I'm doing. but it is somehow just happening. and it is fun. Anyways enough with that. I got more stuff welded in this morning before work. Plan on hitting it hard on my next days off. More updates soon!!!! Quote Link to comment
dennis
looks good so far Quote Link to comment

polishcuz
Nice work, can’t wait till it’s done just a quick question how did you take these off (those 2 long poles on the left) im having trouble removing them Quote Link to comment
blackdeth666
completely remove the two nuts from the adjuster bolt. then just loosen the nut on the front of the lower control arm and give it a few taps with a hammer. u should be able to wiggle them out after that. Master-O-Turbonics
Ya those are your front springs and are preloaded with a LOT of force.... so be sure to unload them with the adjusters on the rear before trying to remove them. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
blackdeth666
Well all the pieces of the puzzle are put together, it just needs to be fully welded. Its mocked up back on the frame and I must say I'm very happy with the way its coming out! The roofline is what gets me, sits just over 52" no more exposed frame rails did all this with a shitty cold. 2 Quote Link to comment
