metalmonkey47
BUMP! So we went and picked Daniel up a nice L28 and some goodies today near Stone Mountain, to transport to his fab shop. Got there and turns out I met the guy a month or so ago at a meet. The easy way to unload from a trailer... when you have access that is! So now there's a donor L28 for this pig, and it should be done VERY soon. Within a few short months hopefully. _DSC0136 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr _DSC0139 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr _DSC0140 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr Probably one of the coolest parts of the truck is the bedsides, mounted on 4WD hubs that rotate the bedside out for easy access  Also, he's got a pretty quick L28ET Maxima with fresh coilovers  Just needs spacers in the front so he can go lower. _DSC0129 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr _DSC0127 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr Quote Link to comment

Master-O-Turbonics
not going to be enough gusto for driveline duties. Its gonna make one heck of a generator though. flattop F54 should do the trick! Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
took a long tail "280zx" transmission that had no issues other than a crappy reverse gear, and a stubby 720 4x4 transmission, and combined them to create an awesome transmission along with a rebuild kit. 3.67 1st gear, with a .89 overdrive. Polished some bits in the lathe. sorry for the lame pic haha Quote Link to comment

Jester
I liked the diesel idea better. Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
diesel = 62hp brand spanking new, L28ET = easy 200hp with plenty of easy power with mild upgrades. And after driving my 50hp samurai on the highway I'm sick of a PAINFULLY slow 4x4 haha. Here comes the unibody 521. 2" x 3" x 3/16" wall rectangular steel tubing is tacked up just inside of the rockers. Body mount supports were cut out to fit the tube. sorry for the lame cell phone pics lol much better photos coming tomorrow! Just scored a stock 370Z radiator for FREE :-) Getting mounted behind the cab. 2 Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
If somebody offered me $400 for the running SD22 w/ bellhousing and starter, I'd take it. Since the economy sucks and nobody seems to have any money and the world is about to end, I'll stick to the plan of making it into a massive generator. 1 Quote Link to comment

Master-O-Turbonics
Made a little more headway today. Welded this rocker slider for the driver side on to the frame rail, and bent up the passenger side one too but didn't trim it down yet. Built from 1.75" X .120 wall DOM tube. Not done yet, still going to add bracing from the frame rail to the slider along its length. passenger side frame rail for the engine bay is in and level with the driver's side. 2 Quote Link to comment

Master-O-Turbonics
Got some more work done today. I actually had the whole day off to work on my truck. front bumper mount. 3/4" bolts lol. The idea is to be able to unbolt the entire front bumper assembly to remove the engine straight out of the front of the vehicle very easily. winch mount for my Harbor Freight 12,000Lb winch.(mount to be beefed up a little more with some gussets):started laying out a little front end tube work Not sure if the double headlights are going to fit with the tube-work, so I may put 520 headlight surrounds on the truck for single headlights. Swept up, cleaned up the rats nest of hoses and extension cords, and headed home. I'm probably going to be cutting up the transmission tunnel to raise the driveline by 3"-4" for more ground clearance. I think the fab work on the welding table is done, so I will pull the cab off of the table at this point and finish up any little bits of welding in the engine bay that I could not get to, then build motor mounts. 2 Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
more pics please info too... Don't really have any more pics. 1987 Canadian market Suzuki Samurai. Stock 50hp 1.3L w/ carb, 5 speed swapped in with brand new flywheel and clutch...SLOW. 31"x11.5"x15" Super Swamper TSL's lift springs(who knows how much?!?!?!) straight pipe plus a thrush turbo mufler LED signal lights. Pretty much stock otherwise. Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Looking at rear axle options... I dont think the Datsun H190 axle is going to hold up for long behind the abuse of a double compounded torque from an L28ET and 36"+ tires.Found a Toyota FJ80 rear axle with OEM electric locker for a decent price and it has a 9.5" ring gear as well as disc brakes so hopefully I'll be picking that up soon. 1 Quote Link to comment
Bob3
Love it! This is the kind of work I enjoy doing (as a hobby). ;) This is a roll cage I did this year. Great build. Subscribed! Keep up the good work! 3 Quote Link to comment
