Farmer Joe
this needs a box on the outside of the frame rail for sure.. is that the 720 box? Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Thats a Saginaw box, GM style. That sticks out the front a bit. Is the plan to run a winch? 31" is probably about how long my CJ5 drag link is so the lenght there should be ok. :) Quote Link to comment

Master-O-Turbonics
Test fit the motor again to check clearance with the front axle. (note the post-apocalyptic sized fuel can that just so happens to fit between the frame rails, heh) Near full up travel, gonna try to clearance the frame rail to be able to have more up-travel for the steering center link. clearance between the side of the motor/oil pan and the chunk(should be plenty, and plenty of room for the driveshaft) Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Got the Johnny Joints in today as well as the spare parts/rebuild stuff. These things are huge LOL! The threads are 1.25"X14TPI Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
MMM progress. :-) PVC links and the Artec brackets. using a buddy's 33x12.50R15" pro comp tires as mock-up for the 3 link setup. Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
How much room do you have for the panhard? Quote Link to comment

Plenty of room, either in front of the axle centerline, or just behind it. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Excellent. Can you take a couple shots of the t-case? I have some doubler ideas running through my head :D Quote Link to comment

Can you take a couple shots of the t-case? I have some doubler ideas running through my head :D Yeah I have also thought of the same thing... Here is the killer solution: Get a hardbody Z24 4x4 transmission and put it in the SD22 Bellhousing, and then run the 720 transfer case divorced behind the TX10 transfer case. that would allow a 4:1 reduction just at the transfer case and give double low. :-) Also allow you to run a PTO or other accessories off of the TX10 front output (think 10KW generator head) since it is tucked high and the 720 transfer case drops straight down. You could run a PTO driveshaft up to the front of the truck to run farm equipment or a PTO winch. THAT would be awesome. Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Just ordered a panhard bar kit from Ruff Stuff specialties and some other stuff to finish up this 3 link. Just gotta pick up the 2" OD .25" wall DOM steel tube for the links now. Should be plenty strong. :-D Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
Picked up some light weight tubing for the front links ;-) Just Kidding!! Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
So today I'm gonna throw a new clutch on the diesel motor (just because its gonna be a pain to pull the motor out later to do it), paint it, and put the manifolding back on with new gaskets.(have them already) Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
New~ish clutch. it was run for about 250 miles and was on the Z24 that was previously in the 81 4x4 truck, pressure plate still has the machining marks in it, so it should be good to go. Had to bend a finger straight since the previous owner bent it trying to get the transmission in. Painted the motor, then started bolting it all back together. (Oil pan will get painted silver when the engine doesn't have to sit on it any more) Quote Link to comment
Cahoon520
Nice Job! Quote Link to comment
Master-O-Turbonics
TA DA! No rust-through on the floors! SO Rare in any Datsun this old! Cleaned out the engine bay a good bit And the best part..... Built this today. 1981 720 brake booster spacer(had to re-drill the holes for slightly different bolt pattern on the booster) and extender rod, series 1 240Z brake booster, S30 7/8" Z car brake master cylinder, 1981 210 master cylinder reservoir caps with low fluid level indicators. I think I am going to graft part of the 720 firewall onto the 521 firewall in order to make mounting this LONG pig easier. Quote Link to comment

LOL! $400 buys all of the remaining rolling 521 chassis minus the rear gear. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Haha. True. I guess i should have said looking forward to following the build. Quote Link to comment
