Shadowing of the pic, but those brake lines are a bit janky back there. I tightened the u-bolts up yesterday and drove it to pick up a new rope swing for the back yard, pretty solid for now. It will definitely need addressing soon though, I have a set of rear 4 runner leaves, I may see how they will fit. Longer springs should get rid of the lift blocks and will give me a lot more flex back there.

New rope swing :D

eee! is that a crappy cast aluminum lift block?

time for a set of fullsize chevy rear leaf springs.. super long, for super flex!

Yep, the plan is to fit up some rear 4 Runner leaves I have. Way longer than the ones under it.

Picked up some Halloween supplies today. :)

Just read your whole thread, including the build up done by the previous owner. Makes me want to get back to WA state and get working on the Monster Datsun (NL320)! Till then I drive my 8 mpg supercharged V-10 Excursion or my 14 mpg 5.4 v-8 F350 that has a ZF-6 speed. Both 4x4, and both do quite well in Alaska, but neither get 22 MPG...

Just for info, Ford uses cast steel blocks the might bolt right in there to at least loose the aluminum blocks... Just an idea!

Take care, and hurry up and get that winch bumper back on there! it's too good looking to be gracing the garage floor!

Looks good man. You do need to loose the blocks though.

I love this time of year. Business slows down , I don't have to spend time taking the family watter skiing and I get to get back to building a wheeler for a kid who doesn't really appreciate it.

Just pushed the Rat back in the shop. I love working on this build

I told her you guys would appreciate the quality work, she didn't believe me

so what are you running for a trans/tcase? incase i missed it

It's a Z series bell housing on a L series 620 5-speed and a Dana 20 t-case.

holy smoke'n clutch.!!!

Is that a taller block or just a replacement for the one that got all squirrely on you a couple of months back?

Same size block. I will take a picture of the old ones, they are in worse shape than that clutch

Edit:

Oh and the rear gears were 4.375. The 4.88's are in now to match the front and I am ready for the coming snow. Thanks to Charlie69 for the hook up. :)
