wussyboi
Doing a head job on a 1979 510 with a l20b motor. Got the head off looking at it there is a gap in the center of the head. look at other heads on the web and there is no gap. Ithink it is tost but here look for youself and tell me if it is no good. MicroMachinery
Eeegh.. looks bad. Can we get a close up? Without some serious welding, that thing is gone. The amount of time/money that would go into fixing that would far exceed the price of a new head. Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
I am no mechanic, but I can safely say that one is scrap. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
I have one like that, but i think the head can be milled enough to save it This is what happens when you keep driving it after it blows the gasket. Didn't leak any water! Quote Link to comment

pocket rocket
aluminium heads can be easily repaired. Any decent cylinder head service shop could repair that. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
yes, it can be fixed, but it is less cost here to buy another good used head for $50, or from a club member for even less. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
He called on the extra head I have. He said he might get rid of the car even after its fixed so I told him I really dont want to sell it if your going to just get rid of the car and its in the dump 6 months from now from another owner.I dont really need the 40 buck but rather the head go to a good home that some can apprciate. So this car might be in the U pick it up for 100$ section soon.Datsunaholic??????L20 block? Quote Link to comment
HRH
A decent machine/fabrication/welding shop shouldn't charge much at all to weld that up. If you clean it entirely for them prior to them welding it will be even cheaper. Z motors are famous for that. Morons drive the truck after the gasket blows, and all that gas swapping makes a nice pocket really quickly. On the Z20S mileage option that happened. Took it to the machine shop, 10 minutes later it was good as new, milled up, and back in my possession for something like $60-$80 bucks. Don't be a part of the throw away culture! Quote Link to comment
