skyblue
That must've been a seriously noisy failure. The type that will make you have to change your undies? haha, yea. the truck shuffled a bit for a second. Appears to be the pavement side haha, thanks. i just wish i knew what the cause was. 1 Quote Link to comment
jrock4224
I ran a Z20 5 speed in my 70 521 with a 520 drive shaft for over 250,000 miles with no problems. Eveven hauled over 1 ton sand loads with it more than once. Ran it down the freeway at 85 to 90 miles an hour all the time traveling back and forth fro Bagdad AZ to Phoenix AZ. this sounds fun ... but hot ..... no ac im a wuss 1 Quote Link to comment

HOGIE
Well did you get that driveline installed yet? 2 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
It's installed but I have to put the lower bracket on still. Been focusing on getting the 510 ready. 1 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Put the lower carrier bearing bracket on and tried to patch the exhaust with some exhaust bandage wrap. But it was futile. I drove her like 12 miles and the exhaust blew right through the bandage wrap. *sigh* I gave it one last shot but it's not gonna happen. Truck won't be going to canby. I will be there with the 510. See you guys in a few days. This is where she'll be, awaiting exhaust surgery when I return. Quote Link to comment

wayno
No local muffler shops that can fix it for you. When I was his age I didn't have any money, I used what I had, and made do, so it didn't always happen as scheduled, it happened when it happened. 4 Quote Link to comment

d.p
WTF happened there? Quote Link to comment
skyblue
WTF happened there? When the driveshaft broke it fucked shit up under the truck, including punching a hole in the exhaust. I tried to temp fix it with some exhaust bandage but the exhaust blew that shit out pretty quickly. all that crusty white stuff is the sealer. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Cut the bad section off New pipe. Per busts nut's suggestion, I cut half of the expanded end off to use it on the other end to have a better seal. Mock up welding it up Not the prettiest welds, but they'll do their job and I have a quiet exhaust again. Welding on a rack, upside down is really really hard. lol. Hence the bird shit welds. Eventually I'd like to redo the whole exhaust, but the truck will have to wait till I do the 510 first. All in all im happy with the results and I can drive the truck again. 4 Quote Link to comment

Draker
Welding overhead sucks! Who cares what it looks like. :) 2 Quote Link to comment
wayno
His truck sits so low that you would have to jack it up to see the welding, and the truck looks cooler sitting on the ground anyway, so it doesn't matter what it loos like as long as it works. 2 Quote Link to comment
