'75 620 make over

Recommended Posts

I went with 3 inch blocks in the rear. I still need to cut the bump stops in the rear. Changed the gears in the rear. Upgraded to 3.90 gears in the rear for less engine noise and better fuel economy.

I still need to index the front torsion bars to get the front lower. It's still a little too high as you can see.

Finished fastening down the front air dam. Shitty Ebay parts from over seas! The quality is terrible and very fragil. Guys BEWARE and take your money elsewhere. Luckly some guy told me that he has NOS euro lenses. Just waiting for him to find them so we can make a deal.

Bought the upper radiator hose, filled it with water and white vinegar. Poured some gas in the fuel tank and started it up. Waited for it to get up to temp and let it idle for about 20min. Flushed out the dirty, orange water and filled it with distilled water and antifreeze. Also, finished wiring the dual Spal fans.

Used OEM Nissan heater hoses since the previous owner bypassed the heater.

Next time on your marker light lenses, use little rubber washers, Help keeps the plastic from cracking.. But they are also cheap product.. they look good though..

you should also weld up the filler section by your taillights it would look smooth all 1 piece

Yeah, you're absolutetly right. I should have welded those pieces together before I had the truck painted. It would have been much cleaner that way.

I had been looking for a nice, clean set of buckets for the truck but had no luck. My cousin hooked me up with a guy that was selling what I believe was a '73 truck bench seat. It was stained and the wrong color. Cleaned it a little and painted it flat black.

First off thanks to all you that have taken the time to look through my build. I appreciate your comments, complements and complaints. Thanks!

I cleaned the interior a little and installed the seat. Still a few more things to do before I go to DMV and pay the tags. It's been non-op for about a year.

It was time to clean the inside of the bed a little. The P.O. used some type of bed liner which was not bad, but it got a lot of over spray when it got painted. I used a stiff brush to get rid of the loose particles so I could use some flat black spray paint. Then I prepped the bed and cabin to not get over spray.

I removed the channel felt that I got on Ebay and installed the stuff I get from Mexico. There is a big difference! The window is now much tighter and no wind noise! It is finally quiet in the cab. I didn't even have to use glue on this felt.

See the difference and it's actually cheaper than the crap from ebay!

Finally got around to putting the new antenna, wind shield wipers and fender badges. I sort of screwed up on the left fender...I had a brain malfunction and had to drill it twice. You could see how I drilled under the holes instead of to the left of it. The badge did not cover the large holes when it mounted under the large holes.

Clean work... where can one get this felt for the window? Also the black door jamb trim, is that what came with the truck or did you buy this? I think I might be able to use that on my 720

Bringing this back because it's not done...anymore. I've had this truck pretty much untouched since 2012 when I freshened it up. I don't drive it much at all. Maybe 1000 miles (700 mile round trip to the 2012 JCCS) since it was finished. Now I want to change the stance. I'm sick of it. I want to go to a Prerunner look. The plan is to keep the rims and add some 215/70r/16 A/T tires, take the 3" blocks off the rear, raise the front and change the rear diff to help with the bigger wheels. Nothing major or expensive. I have too many projects going on at once and at times I feel overwhelmed.

I need your input, guidance and comments. I've never put this size tires on a 620 and I'm not sure if they fit or rub. What's the highest the front will go by just the torsion bars? The truck below is similar to the stance I'm looking for. The truck below is newer so it has ball joint vs. my kingpin. That truck was supposedly built for some type of competition. I'm not sure if they did some fab work up front, but I can't tell from the pick in the site https://www.grautogallery.com/vehicles/2020/1978-Datsun-620-Baja  To me it looks pretty much stock, but I'm not familiar with the ball joint 620s.

That's a sweet truck. I remember seeing it here on the forum a while back.

I got the tires today. I'll see if I could get them mounted this week end. I hope I didn't just waste $450 on tires that don't fit or work. LOL

I'll post pictures once all the work is done.
