There's a ton of minutiae to learn about these old Datsuns - like how there are three different kinds of front-corner side marker lights:

This low-profile, striped one seems to be on the Japanese Violets:

This angled one seems to be on non-Japanese Violets:

And this boxy one is the type found on the 710 sold in the USA and Canada:

They are left and right specific too. The base and reflector from a left front will fit the right rear if you change the colored lens and vise versa. When my sedan was painted the shop put the fronts on upside down. By the time I caught it they were set in the paint and would leave an outline if changed

So what kind of simple mods are out there that are interchangable between parts. I think I saw many go with the 280 struts when they lower their ride Im guessing because the are shorter and slightly stiffer. I saw that the 610 guys go with flares for the z cars because they have similar wheel wells, is that the same for us?

Also, does anyone have pictures of the parkbench bumpers modified? I was looking at them yesterday and it looks like you can simply remove the plastic(rubber) above the front and rear bumpers and modify the mounting brackets to pull the bumpers closer to the vehicle which would make them look less bulky and might even look pretty sweet. You guys know what I mean?

Correct me if Im wrong but it looks like this guy did it

Ad says they want $300USD but you would need shipping also....difficulty you would need to speak Mandarin. You might try a translated email though. Note the price may be total bullshit too, alot of them are, most of the used grills I've been seeing go for ~100.

The mexico grill is awsome, styled after the 510 sss grill. Just sayin.

The reproduction Malaysian grills sold everywhere but USA ... are REALLY hard to find/source and shipped to Cali

they're only $85 new on this site: ... http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-402342184-parrilla-datsun-sedan-710-74-75-76-77-78-nvd-_JM"]http://articulo.merc...6-77-78-nvd-_JM .. new JDM valence: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-402460031-tolva-inf-def-datsun-sedan-74-78-del-_JM"]http://articulo.merc...n-74-78-del-_JM

im quite content with my autometer in the stock dash on my 610 im sure something similar could be done in the 710 but then again i never understood what the big deal was with having to have factory parts especially when there so rare for me it makes more sense to fab in an aftermarket or other readily avalable part that way i/when it needs to be replaced its not the end of the world
