Ratwagon1600
Definitely not an FML thread, however, my best mate has been pretty crook over the last two weeks. Week and a half ago she started to show signs of incontinence which for a two year old spayed dog is a bit concerning, One week ago I had her vaccinations updated and yesterday she startered coughing like a three pack a day smoker and vomiting bile. Spent last night in the house nursing her and today a vet gave an inconclusive diagnosis to my baby girls issues and im not happy about the findings. Tomorrow we are off to another vet for a complete check up, xrays, urine and blood samples etc etc. RW loves his pooches and was, 25 years ago, a Dog Handler (without going too much away I worked with, and trained bomb detection dogs, FWIW). I love my pooches and think they are better than humans. Thankfully tonight she is seeming much better so fingers crossed. 2 Quote Link to comment
KELMO
RW, hope all turns out well for your pooch. One of ours got snake bit several months back and made for a few nervous days. Like you, the more humans I meet, the more I like my dogs. 3 Quote Link to comment

My diagnosis is she’s eaten something she shouldn’t have. No obvious signs of a bite from something. Hopefully today’s vet visit will shed a bit more light on things. 3 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
the more humans I meet, the more I like my dogs. I have a framed picture on the wall of my study that has almost this exact saying on it. "The more people I meet, the more I like my dog" ^^^^^^ True dis. 3 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
Soooooooooo the 2nd vet diagnosis was still a bit more inconclusive than I would have liked, though I am much happier with the service so I have found a new place to treat her. The vomiting and coughing we've narrowed down to a new type of kennel cough vaccine which is sparyed into the dogs nose. What I wasnt aware of (until the new vet explained it today) is this spray contains live components of the virus and accordingly dogs have a higher chance of having a reaction to it. Thanks for nothing to the previous vet for not explaining this to me. No evidence af any trachial, intestinal or bowel damage/blockages which was good news. Urine test showed a higher than normal white blood cell count (which didnt show up in the previous test by the other vet three days ago). New vet has wizz bang machine which covers a lot more elements of the test. We both summised the other vet is using a ph strip style test which doesnt show up as much as the machine based test. Thanks for nothing again to the old vet. Possible causes are a bladder/urinary tract infection whch will now be treated by a course of antibiotics. Full lab analysis will also be conducted on urine sample to try and get to the bottom of this. Overall, otherwise she is very much on the mend which is a releif for me! 3 Quote Link to comment
racerx
White blood cell high means infection somewhere. Hope she gets well. 3 Quote Link to comment

125 CSL
Sam my golden, we are out on a walk. He is very driven to play fetch. I have tried several times to wear him out with the game, but he always wins. Fantastic pet, often brilliant, and willing to learn. Sometimes I wish I had known there long puppyhood, often lasting 2 years. 3 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
2 years if you're lucky, my neighbor has a golden that's 8 and still acts like a puppy... 3 Quote Link to comment
125 CSL
He is right at 2, and still wants to play all the time but that edge of I want to play I want to play I want to play is calmed to lets play,...and he stopped that cold nose on any exposed skin when under the car or truck wrenching. Oh and water dog. Drink it like it is going out of style and more then an inch in the water bowl and the feet go in and splash time. Wish I had more time to go to the lake and let him swim. 1 Quote Link to comment
heywier427
I bought a small kids plastic pool, and my dog effing loves it! Takes about 15 min to fill up with hose, and is good for a few days. It came with a cover on it, and when he wants to play, he just sits on it and barks at me. Hey, Hey, HEY, HEYYYYYYYYYYY. Open this thing!!!! Makes baths much easier too! 2 Quote Link to comment
KELMO
These 2 are litter mates. Laying in the shop on a moving pad I laid out for them....they're holding hands. The one on the right dug up a nest of moles yesterday.....dog 5, moles none. Such a good girl. 3 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
First up is Dolomite, my 80lb American Staffy. 9.5 years old, and probably the best dog I’ve had. This is my daughters Jack Dempsey cichlid, Nassa. He’s about three years old and around nine inches long. 1 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Damn, that's a big jack Dempsey. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Damn, that's a big jack Dempsey. I’ve been told he’s quite the looker too. Not bad for $4.99 at PetSmart, granted he was maybe two inches when we got him. Fucker kills anything we try to put in with him, he managed to catch and eat a giant danio. He was raised on earthworms and hikari gold. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
That's the problem with cichlids. I had an African cichlid set up and maybe 35% of what I bought lived, they were constantly killing each other. 1 Quote Link to comment
KELMO
One of my girls with her "Tard Face" on. One of the rescue/foster/adopted Salukis (SP?) we got a couple months back. He is about 13 years old and just as goofy and gangly as all get out. 2 Quote Link to comment
