Not sure I'm ever gonna get ripped, but 34in pants would be 10" smaller than what I'm wearin'! I'd take that! :) Feel free to post your pics here! I know that I'll look forward to road trips more with less of me :)

So, come on Dave....let's do it! Post a present pic and your goal pic. I think I'm going to do a present in front of Mend....we'll see which noticeably changes first....and which one gets finished first! :)

I'm right there with you guys. Pushin' the 400 mark right now..I really need to do something about it..so I'm onboard with you guys. This might just be the motivation I need. It's pretty bad when I've gotta work to get into the car that I spent so much time and money on over the last couple of years, makes it hard to enjoy it.

So with the start of the new year, I've decided to take on another project. This rig has taken me a lot of places despite how much I've neglected it over the years. It used to be in really nice shape, but I've let it deteriorate over the years. I've only managed to break one part in the last 45 years and I did it up right. Took some professionals 3 tries to fix it and it's still not perfect. It wouldn't bother me as much if the rig wasn't loaded down from a ton of excess additions over the years. I had managed to remove all the additions a couple of time only to succumb to new ones. It used to run and drive like a sports car, but now it's much more like a mid '80's Cadillac.....still a nice ride but way too slow and couldn't handle the curves even if it wanted too :)

Despite all the other projects I have going, I think I can work this one in. The bonus is that as I get this one closer to completion, The other projects will be a lot easier to complete. Win/win :)

I will need to treat this rig a bit differently if I want to bring it back around. Maybe start treating it to higher octane stuff instead of any 'ol crap I can shove down it's pipe.

Not sure how often I'll update this. Heck, I may regret starting this thread as soon as I post it!! :)

I was going to name the thread Project mklotz70, but I thought that maybe there might be a few others out there with similar projects, that would like to post here too. I figure I need to consider myself a New Owner now since the Previous Owner didn't take care of this rig worth sh*t!! :)

Okay.....so here's the rig as it is now.....pretty sad, but at least it's still a daily driver and not in the shop or scrapyard!!! Specs on the rig are sad....5'4" @ 242lbs :(

Anyway.....anyone else with a similar project...feel free to join in! I figured with all the completely pointless BS, banter and non-datsun related posts on here these days....why not a thread like this :)

so does this mean we're not going to share burgerville fries anymore?

Mike -

My only advice to you is this:

1 - Don't quit

2 - Eat clean (watch the fat intake)

3 - Hydrate (lots of h2o)

4 - Burn (get that heart going)

Good luck! :thumbsup::w00t::thumbsup:

I hope to meet you at Canby.

Yeah...I'm gonna cut out the Mt. Dew first...I drink it like a fish right now. Gonna start doing basic excersise in the morning when I get up. Probably start out at 15 minutes at first and then work my way up to 1 hour over time.

Idk what tips but I can tell you my take on it. I have been in the same boat my whole life. My metabolism is fast so I know tips for that. Eat lol, non empty cals, your weight in protein daily(lb to gram ratio), more strength training then cardio, fun shit like that. I'm also coupled with the fact I'm not an eater, some days I will wake up late have one big meal and just some snacks. Often find myself on a cal hunt because its 12am and I'm barely over 1.5k. I try and stack easy but healthy meals around, boost plus is packed with vits and its 360 cals(where reg boost is 160), in whats got to be 6oz lol. I mean even if I'm hung over running out the door thats 360 dependable cals. Pair it with a zone bar, almost your days requirement in vits and 500 cal total, on the fly and very healthy.

I quit smoking, work out 5 times a week religiously, eat as much as I can, protein, vits..... PITA

Sometimes I think a person is just at the right weight, even if we don't agree.

As of today I'm 147 6'1".

Only about 2 lbs the first week. We were kinda "easing" into it. I've ramped it up a bit more this week so we'll see :)

.....oh.....and I don't plan on doing a pound by pound naration.....I don't want to make it seem like a race or competion. Don't want anyone to hurt themselves. If we all lose, we all win! :)

good job Mike...I am still trying to get into the mental game. I am so far out of shape it is going to be tough and painful to start to work out....But I hope to do it. My aunt is a Doctor who is a dietision specialist at Childrens Hospital in Seattle and she said the healthy way is to lose about 3 to 4 pounds a week and high protien and cut out all products made with flour...Bread, pasta etc...no rice so basically no carbs...lots of green vegies, seafood and chicken. So I guess that means no more Taco Bell for me....lol

I will try to get pics up this week, but I dont want to scare anyone.....

Tuna is great, but you have to watch how much you eat considering the mercury intake :

If you don't have one I'd suggest one of those george foreman grills. Buy boneless chicken breasts and slap one on there with your choice of spices/salts or marinades and you have a super easy & fast meal.

Jeremy Piven just had to pull out of his Broadway play because of the high mercury content in his blood, due to sushi/tuna.

It amazes me how people know the consequences of their actions, I.E. destroying this world and they just keep on keepin on anyway. Soon we won't have to worry about the merc content because there won't be any fish left.

Did you take all your measurements for a baseline? I want to see charts damn it CHARTS!!!! :-)

it a little lengthy but here you go ::

When I became diabetic about 4 years ago, I attended classes to learn how to eat properly and get my weight down. They assessed my activity to determine how many carbs I should be allowed to eat each day. I was advised not to cut out carbs completely but to lower them. Carbs are necessary to give you energy. After my assessment, they told me I could have between 60 to 65 grams of carbs per meal and 30-35 grams per snack but not to have over 3 snacks per day. They also told me not to go over 2500 calories. My wife decided it was actually easier for her to count my carbs and not worry about the calories because it was getting to complicating for her. I think just watching my carb intake helped me stay within my calorie guidelines anyway.

There are good carbs and bad carbs. Your bad carbs come from enriched breads, pasta and sugars. Your good carbs come from whole wheat breads, fruits and vegetables. There are also good fats and bad fats and should not cut them totally out of your diet either. Good fats are non-saturated fats which have no trans fats. You get a lot of your trans fats from junk food which is also high in cholesterol. Try using olive oil, peanut oil, or canola oil and stay away from vegetable oil. If you like pasta, there are several pastas on the market now that are made from whole wheat.

My wife wanted to lose weight and she really did not worry about her carb intake but just counted calories. She was taking in over 2000 calories per day which is more then what a women needs. She chose to cut her calories back to 1200 per day and within a year, she lost 40 lbs.
