mainer311
Received my Beebani brackets. Got one side done tonight. The stock D21 brake lines don’t really work if you install it correctly on the back of the caliper. At full steering lock, the two fittings hit each other. It you rotate the caliper “banjo” downwards and then tighten it into place, then it works pretty good. And the good news is that there is tons of clearance with the wheel I bought. Looks like it’s a go for the remaining 3. 4 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
link for those wheel studs? Did they come notched, or did you do that yourself? 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
link for those wheel studs? Did they come notched, or did you do that yourself? Dorman 610-157, the same ones that are documented on this forum somewhere. I notched them with an angle grinder. Takes a couple seconds per. 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Where and why are they notched? They're not really "notched," but you have to cut a flat on the head of the stud such that it keys up with a flat on the back of the hub casting. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/43937-replacing-521-wheel-studs/ In the thread above, he files the knurl to make it smaller, but it's not necessary if you're using a hydraulic press. They go right in. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
That makes more sense... never messed with those on mine ... didn't really look at the back side of the hub.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
That makes more sense... never messed with those on mine ... didn't really look at the back side of the hub.... I had to get longer ones because the aluminum wheels are thicker. The lug nuts I bought are just barely long enough to fit. Any longer and I'd likely have to trim the studs back a little bit. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I figured it had to be something like that... I got lucky and still had enough threads with my rims..... 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
So I guess you just can't delete a double post ... oops... 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Yeah, and then you have to cut up your stock spindle. I didn’t want to do that. So are you planning on going back to stock? Are you saving all the stock front brake parts? 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
So are you planning on going back to stock? Are you saving all the stock front brake parts? No. Yes. I save all the parts that come off of both my Datsuns. 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
One wheel is officially bolted back on. Waiting for the others to arrive. Brakes are bled as good as I can get them. Will probably need some more tinkering after a slow test drive. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.p
I admire your work a lot but those not for me. Gonna look like a green bean when you are all said and done. Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Green bean? As in, too much green? I don’t know. There wheels come with huge chrome center caps that stick out really far. I think these look way better, despite being green. After I painted them I thought they would look way too decorative on an old truck. After I put this one on, I liked it a lot better, but time will tell. Worst case, I could just spray them black again. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.p
Yeah too much green. I don’t even have center caps on mine. Just dented and faded grease caps. Quote Link to comment

Something to think about is redo the center caps in a standard color and then accent it with green. But it’s clean. 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Installed the last 6 longer wheel studs on the truck, nothing exciting. Then I installed a battery quick disconnect on the roadster, charged the battery, and blew the cobwebs out for a while. And by “blew the cobwebs out” I mean “flogged the fuck out of it around the block a few times.” 2 Quote Link to comment
