76Lil Hustler
Has anyone heard of these before? Here's a link to their site. would like to hear everyone's 2 cents on em. http://www.ecooptimized.com/ Quote Link to comment
Jesse C.
I see nothing about it being CARB approved. And why would I look at that? Because they have the toughest rules around. 6 Quote Link to comment
76Lil Hustler
figured as much. was worth asking. buuut that also doesn't apply to me in Oregon. Just wondering if their idea actually holds up and it would actually work. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
These are like catch cans. Absolutely no need for them, they just make more work for you to clean them and dispose of the mess and you have to pay them for it. If you care about clean air keep your Datsun tuned up. CO2 Reduction Laboratory test results show decreases of carbon dioxide (CO2) up to 12%. CO2 is a potent greenhouse gas and is the primary cause of man-made global warming. Well that's bullshit. CO2 is a colorless gas not a particulate. No filter in the world will catch this. The molecule is 232pm (picometers) wide. A picometer is 10-12 meters wide. 0.000,000,000,001. How will that be trapped by a a filter that is only a hollow tube??? Gas Mileage & Cost Savings Laboratory testing using the EPA 511 Protocol shows gas mileage increases of as much as 12%. Consumer experiences conducted on a wide variety of cars, light duty trucks and SUV’s in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America have resulted in gas mileage increase up to: 34% on 4-cylinder cars, e.g. Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas, Ford Focuses, etc. 21% on light duty trucks and SUV’s, e.g. GMC 2500s, Chevy Avalanches, Range Rovers, etc. 16% on dual exhaust 8-cylinder sedans, e.g. Lincoln Town Cars, Crown Victorias, etc. 24% on 10 cylinder Box-style trucks, e.g. U-Haul moving trucks. More bullshit. If this thing does remove particulates at the end of the exhaust pipe how does this, in any part of our 11 dimensional string theory universe, translate into better mileage??? 3 Quote Link to comment

76Lil Hustler
Scam indeed. look nifty I'll give em that. lol flux capacitor. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratwagon1600
IF they really worked, new vehicle manufacturers would all be using them. Quote Link to comment
kelowg
My thought is this more for diesels. Gas engines dont have much solids in the exhaust to warrant the cost. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Particulates soon settle to the ground. CO2, NO, CO, HC are gasses, greenhouse gas molecules, so small no filter will collect them. So all you really collect is carbon. That 'filter' is an open tube, so just how much actually goes through the filter material? Not too damn much. Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
Just put a sock on it! The way my engines blow flame out the pipe on down shifts, I'd have to run Nomex socks :) 1 Quote Link to comment

carterb
Just think if you added that with a Turbonator!!! They would probably combine to blow rainbows out your tailpipe and give you better MPG and power than a Tesla. Better put a couple of magnets around your fuel lines while you are at it. --carter 3 Quote Link to comment

Cheetosrdabest
How would they be able to put the sniffer tube into the exhaust pipe with these on for the emissions test? Last time I took mine for emissions, they said it was not emitting anything out of the pipe and tried to fail the truck...had to get out and show them to insert the sniffer into the exhaust pipe in the middle of the stainless tip...not between the tip cover and the side of the exhaust pipe, lol Quote Link to comment
racerx
Wait if you call now, we will send you 2, that's right 2 exhaust tips for the price of one, and not only that we also send you a set of Ginsu knives....note, S/H and taxes will be applied. 1 Quote Link to comment

I have used it myself and it captured a significant amount of PM. CO2 i believe its reduced due to the optimization of consumption. If it allows you to drive more miles and use less gas, it effectively reduces the co2 by a proportion amount to the gas you do not burn. To my knowledge, it seems to regulate the flow and consumption of your vehicle. It works. Ive cleaned out 4 filters worth of PM. And i have them stored in 2 containers. The amount filtered was during the course of 12 - 18 months in both occasions. They cost around £50 in Gibraltar for the complete module, the filters are cheaper at £15. Quote Link to comment
