datzenmike
Damn, just about 34 days till I leave for Canby. Need my lamps. :frantics: 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Me too. But the install looks so easy.. not worried about it. Just jelly at this point. Quote Link to comment
Phixius
Wiring was really easy and Dapper is very helpful with technical support. Everything is truly plug n play. Except for the halos. Clicked everything together on the couch and carried out... Even layed my jacket on the ground.. Hardest part, like hobo, was the buckets. I did plan ahead a little and got a bag of stainless retainer ring screws... Drove around a bit. Still needs adjusting. Not diggin the halos. Extremely bright. And blue. Although they are good for emergency light if the fuse blows... This was the best pic I could get of clearance for a 521. HID 55w 5000k 5 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
5K is about the closest you can get to full noon sunlight, what our eyes have evolved to see best in. While we can see into the 'hotter' blue range it's not as well and the farther you go, disappears into the invisible ultra violet. So you will see farther and with better color resolution with 5K than you will with 7K. So when you see those idiots with mauve/purple HIDs just shake your head at them. 2 Quote Link to comment

Still need to do some adjustments on mine as well 1 Quote Link to comment
opalbeetle
My lights arrived in the mail! They look really good! I ordered the black ones with no halo lights. They will not be installed and tested in the near future, but I am excited to get to that stage of reassembly! The customer service Dapper provides is second to none! They have been polite and quick to respond through the whole process. Thanks! 2 Quote Link to comment

bens1088
Could I switch my order to Black instead of chrome? Please shoot an email to info@dapperlighting.com I don't handle any of the order changes. I don't think it should be a problem unless you want black modern (completely out) Quote Link to comment
Phixius
Just more photos... Classic halo in daylight. Classic halo ONLY at night next to stock datsun low beam. They a super bright. My cutoff isn't level, bucket problems. But, lots of light. Adjusted a little low. Lots of light. In the sun. In the shade. we have fun throughout the day. I havnt used high beams all that much. Waiting for the relay harness to come in next month or so. But when I have used them it's really weird going from a very bright white HID light to a yellow/orange halogen and back again. 4 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
they aren't all around hid? and yeah those halos are bright. the halos don't look as out of place as i thought they would 1 Quote Link to comment
Phixius
Nope, Lows only for HID. If used on highs, they would wear out quickly from turning on and off constantly. HIDs have a warm up period with high current draw, but low light output on start up. The current draw decrease when warm and bright. Will even have less running draw then halogens. I might want some 3000-4500k HID bulbs. Mike is right the 5000k is like daylight, but the rest of the surroundings in night. We see best in the 4000k or so range (more yellow) at night, depending on the person. It puts less strain on the eyes. And car manufacturers install that color bulbs for a reason. hobospyder
ah, i don't know, don't personally like the hids. i wouldn't run headlights if i wouldn't get pulled over for it half the time 1 Quote Link to comment

Spending close to five hundred bucks on lights just doesn't seem like something I'd do... But I wanna. Look at it from a safety aspect. Yup it's $500, but you will see the road and your surroundings better and be seen better. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I've been putting off upgrading my lamps for ever. Only night driving I do is down to Canby the rest of the summer is light till 9 but I like to see where I'm going. I sometimes drive my wife's Matrix and the lamps are not HID but very sharp cut off and good brightness. These are crazy expensive but I do want HID and expect them to be the last time I have to do this. 2 Quote Link to comment
hobospyder
All you'll have to do is replace bulbs from now on. Well, all you should habe to do 1 Quote Link to comment
DeRuX
So I got my lights and because of my car they do not fit. I am going to put them up for sale. They are the chrome with the modern halo. This is the only picture I have right now. I was going to put them on my hakosuka but because of the way the radiator panel and inner fender metal goes there is no room. Quote Link to comment
