It just 'blows my mind' the level of crap that's out there and how much of it people listen to and think is great. I blame this on the easy access by anyone to record themselves taking a shit and calling it music. Generally in the past, (other than Payola) artists had to a/ be good or b/ be innovative or c/ have something the listening public wanted to hear. It was hard to get a recording label contract with all the other really good competition out there and only the dream rose to the top. By the end of today I could probably find someone who could produce a 'music video' for me and put it on a DVD.... who couldn't??? Pretty much any idiot can and this is why we have this uninspired mediocrity on the radio and TV. Yes, there are a few reasonably good songs as there always will be but they are buried in the ground noise. Which brings me to the listener. People have bad taste in rim choices for their cars so why wouldn't this extend to their listening habits? Face it, if a lie is repeated over and over and over enough, you will believe it eventually. Stop listening to shit 24/7 while working or at home. It's everywhere. Listen more selectively and turn the shit down or off. Don't let your friends do it either.
