datzenmike
Mike's all about that slant. Had a '64 Dodge slant six. Made an adapter and fitted a 318 2bbl and split the exhaust manifold and ran duals. From 30-90 it was as fast as a buddie's 283 '66 Chevelle. Quote Link to comment

laotsu
https://oldmachinepress.wordpress.com/2013/03/09/duesenberg-w-24-marine-engine/ the engine’s 96 valves took about a week of labor to adjust. One spark plug was installed in each cylinder and fired by a camshaft-driven Delco distributor mounted at the rear of each cylinder bank. the W-24 only produced a disappointing 475 hp (354 kW). the W-24 engine was installed in Dodge’s Miss Syndicate III boat. Miss Syndicate III failed to finish the first heat. 1 Quote Link to comment
paradime
What, you mean they actually installed one spark plug in every cylinder? That's crazy talk, but you left out the rest lil troll. If you'd read the rest of the article you'd found the W24 produced over 850 HP once it was supercharged at 15 psi. It powered a boat that won two President's Cups on the Detroit river, and set a world speed record. After being stored for 7 years that same boat ran against newer boats with WW2 plane engines and still finished second. America, fuck yah. 4 Quote Link to comment

I posted what I found interesting. again, you are welcome Thanks laotzu, I appreciate the article, and I learned more about the amazing W24. Just seemed like you focused on the negative stuff during early development, making it sound like a P.O.S. Out of respect for the golden age of American engineering, I felt compelled to fill in the rest of the W24's history that I found interesting. Again, thanks 3 Quote Link to comment
