captaingamez
Hydrogen in general and Oxygen seems like the most realistic solution to our problems of energy consumption. However the world would rather shift polution to another source instead of invest in some new fangled energy source that is not tested very well because of lack of funding as a whole. The point is we need FUELS, electric is not a FUEL, it requires FUEL to produce, that is the opposite of the direction we need to go transportation wise. When electric can do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64BCcNyAvxU I will be interested, But Hydrogen can do ten times this^, in a smaller package, when harnessed properly, Ever heard of Bikini Atoll? Imagine that power harnessed in a drag car....... Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
How about THIS for engine porn? 4,000 hp at 1200 rpm. Caterpillar C175-20 ACERT 5164 cubic inch 20-cylinder, quad turbo Diesel engine. Weighs 53,000 lbs. Holds 250 gallons of oil, yep, GALLONS! It goes in this monster: 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
Damn. More importantly for that though, how much Torque does it put out? Quote Link to comment
Burabuda
john doesn't matter what engine you put in this pic we're not gonna see it 3 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
Answer based upon calculation? 17,507 FT/LB of Torque Quote Link to comment
Driftease
The biggest problem with hydrogen is what it takes to get it. You have common electrolysis which requires more energy to do than it will make when burned or used in a fuel cell, then you can extract it from natural gas which leaves a bunch of leftover carbon that needs to be used too so you are right back to Fossil fuel. There are huge hurtles to reducing FF usage and there will not be one single simple solution (that anyone likes anyway) to the problem. Besides gasoline is awesome, yay America! yup thats my official stance on the topic lol 1 Quote Link to comment
JoeCool
Damn. More importantly for that though, how much Torque does it put out? Final drive torque at the wheels measured at the electric hybrid transaxle is 12,000 lb. ft. Quote Link to comment
OneFastRat
I seriously hope there is a car meet just for hybrids. You should bring all your datsuns and just take the exhausts off to rev at them Quote Link to comment
paradime
One thing I know about energy production is that it's competing industries have been flooding the public with disinformation about each other's products since the industrial revolution began. Robber Barons like: Andrew Carnegie Biography of Andrew Carnegie (PBS) J. Pierpoint Morgan JP Morgan (PBS) Biography of J.P. Morgan J.P. Morgan Cornelius Vanderbilt Cornelius Vanderbilt (Bartleby) Cornelius Vanderbilt John D. Rockefeller John D. Rockefeller (PBS) Jay Gould Jay Gould: Famous Americans Jay Gould Henry Frick Henry Frick (PBS) Leland Stanford Leland Stanford (PBS) James J. Hill James J. Hill Bi These men wrote the book on how to protect their companies interests my suppressing competition and new technology. When Edison was duking it out with Tesla over AC, or DC delivery of electricity, because it threatened his business, Rockefeller (aka Standard oil) was spreading crazy rumors and disinformation about this NEW industry. Edison was holding huge publicity stunts like killing elephants with AC electrocution to show its inherent danger. This kind of corporate sabotage shit is still in high gear today. Word to the "wise". If you hear of a study claiming one thing or another, see who paid for it's funding before you use it to bolster your position. 1 Quote Link to comment

smoke
I love that thing. I have been wanting to shorten up an old model AA my Father has and fit a dirt burner in it. But....he won't cut me a deal on it, hell, he won't even sell it to me for what I could get one on Craigslist for. Quote Link to comment
