Nice beasty, why isn't it out running trails?

Been trying to get it running again but I fix one thing and some else goes bad. Put a new distributor in and the first time I hit the key the starter motor locked up and the solenoid stuck on so it tried to catch itself in fire, that was fun.

International Harvester is the high standard for honest functional simplicity. Sounds like you may have a possessed Scout though Q, Have you considered an exorcist, or at least burning some sage to chase out the evil spirits? I had a 73 Westfalia bus that was totally suicidal. Toasted two motors, caught fire, and a total brake failure coming down from Tahoe. My brother jokingly said lets do a sage burning. Did it , and damned if it wasn't trouble free from then on. May have been all in my head, but fuck it, it worked. (Did I just say but fuck it?)

Speaking of BF'n it, Is that the 4-152 up in there? I'm shocked at how small the exhaust pipe is.

Funny thing about it is when my buddies brother bought it we vacuumed the rats nest out of the intake, bolted a carb on it and hooked up a gas can for a fuel tank. And it ran from that point until I killed it, three damn years. I think it just doest like me anymore. Time for a Cummins swap!

Is that's not fancy enough I present the scout aristocrat:

Comes with such luxurious amenities as a center console for the gear shift and a padded dash!

And this is what my aristocrat has become...

Wish it still had the bitchin chrome luggage rack when I got it...

There seams to be a lot of Scout owners on Ratsun, I have a 1967 800a that was my first vehicle!

On the Factory V8 A-series Scouts, there was actually quite a bit of "behind the scenes" stuff they did to make room for the V8. You'd think that it would be fairly easy, seeing as how the slant 4 IH used was basically half of their existing V8, but there was quite a bit that needed to be done for the V8.

The V8 A-series Scouts had a wider notch in the firewall, and while the V8 was installed "upright" the slant 4 was installed clocked a few degrees to the driver's side. The front frame crossmember was moved forward, and the V8 Scouts used what was basically a factory body lift- they were about 1" higher off the frame than a four-cylinder. Not only that, but the body was mounted about an inch or so further back (I don't recall the exact dimensions and I'm too lazy to look them up) on the chassis than on a four-cylinder. That's an easy way to spot a factory V8 A-series Scout- there will be a wider gap between the bumper and splash apron up front, and the wheels aren't quite centered in the wheel openings.

There's probably a shit-ton of other stuff I'm forgetting, but those were the differences I can think of. I guess that explains why the engine bay in the Scout II is so much bigger than the one in the first-gen Scouts.

Now, how about some porn for those of you who may have a "homeless old lady" fetish?

'57 Ford T700 my brother and I dragged out of a barn yesterday morning.

I thought all Ford trucks from that era were F series, what is a T?

If it was a tandem, it was a T. I don't recall when they dropped that practice and rolled it all into the F-Series... early to mid '60's sounds about right.

The last one I drove was a tandem dump, a 1959 F750.
