"Venus" 1925 John Alden 253a 43' schooner

Recommended Posts

This is what I've been helping with for the past few months.

I'll simply leave you with some information and pictures.

We all love pics

Here are the details from last survey. http://www.boatersresources.com/bfs_detail.php?adid=106916

The Venus is a 43 foot schooner built in 1925. Hull number 253b designed by John G. Alden and built by T. H. Soule.

It's had many owners, makeovers, and tragedies. It now belongs to a good friend of mine and we are working hard to get it all back together.

And our story starts one year ago.

Yeah, it's wood. Wait till I post pics of the insides lol.

The hull has a shell of c flex system from another resto. So it's kinda a wood framed glass boat now.

Lots of good work boss! Dont know what your situation is down there but my dad owns a boatyard in panama city. He's always looking for good workers. We're goin down on Labor day weekend maybe I could cruise over and check it out in person.

We will probably leave for Miami at the end of August.

Gorgeous, and she is riding on a lot bettter lines than those earlier pics.

I cut my teeth working (and sailing) on a simiarly sized, homebuilt, gaff rigged ketch, so those pics brought back many fond memories.

Good luck and fair winds.  Nothing as good as that shaped hull on a broad reach.
