Eagle_Adam
So long story short I didn't do ALL the reading i could have and it cost me in regards to my timing kit.... Problem A was the plastic guide... Solved it with a new aftermarket guide "Potential" problem B was that some of the less desirable kits had issues with the pressed in oil caps on the tensioners popping off.... Therefore losing oil pressure on the tensioners, well u see where this is going :/ I couldn't find anyone that had used the kit I bought and complained about it. But I still lost some sleep over it to be honest Ended up deciding to find someone to tack weld the oil caps in place. Driven agreed to help, thanx again So now I'm as happy as I'm gunna get with what i have so it time to build this fucker finally! 8 Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
Your not putting the timing chain guides back correct as they were a problem to begin with.that was the same problem I had with mine and it's a common problem another thing is the timing chain tensioner,I guess what some guys do is drill a hole on the back side and tap it and run a bolt in there to always keep the bearing out. Eric Garside
first upgrade after i have it running :) http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/cam-swap-ka24de.html 240 cams are hard to come by and expensive when you find them but you can use the Altima exhaust cam. You can find them at the junkyard and all you have to do is machine off the CAS groove on the back. I sent one to Red but I dont know if has installed it. Quote Link to comment
Eric Garside
Just read that, not sure about the "forget about the Altima myth" portion of that write up but if you want I have a couple Altima cams in the garage and could send you one... for a ZJ ;) Quote Link to comment
jrock4224
Again.... very confused.... i think he is referin to the mod red eye did on his upper timing cover ..... its about 4 pages back on this red truck tread i believe Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
explain..... im confused as to what i did wrong I forgot to put a comma sorry, the KA came with chain guides from the factory, after a while you would get a crappy noise from the timing chain i guess from whacking the guides so Nissan's fix was to remove them. But i am thinking you already know that. Eagle_Adam
That was just the top tensioner or the top timing set And It's gone ;) OE also came factory with a plastic timing guide.... That got replace with aftermarket too 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Very good,i just learned that when i got the red truck, and thats how i found out it was removed already which caused me to have to do the timing chains and oil pump and so forth. 1 Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Bummer ... Well I picked up the cyl head dowel from Laecaon only to find out I'm missing 5 of the 10 head bolt washers -.- So I'm off to the junkyard this weekend :( Quote Link to comment
