danfiveten
So its been brought to my attention (several times) of why i dont have a build thread on my 510? Well never made one, but finally decided to make a thread based on her so people will know about her, and not ask lol. Yes i keep her secluded ;) Not much has been done to her in the last 25 years, ive done a few things, but truthfully i love her the way she is, peeling paint and all, mainly because of the reason that its how i remember her when my dad owned her. I have to many memories with the car, so i like to keep it the way it is. One day i will repaint her, but for now i love her this way, the way i remember her. Back around 2005 Dont really want to say much about her, im always paranoid about anything happening to her, which is why shes always blocked in in the garage. Shes fully complete, i have everything id ever want on her, or ever need. Only thing i need to fix is the tach. So there we go, now youve seen her. Shes got no rust other than some surface rust in spots / paint bubbles, nothing has ever eaten through on her. Quote Link to comment
Draynor
Looks great...and a 68 bumper  Quote Link to comment
Draker
Center console <3 Very nice car! Keep her locked and blocked. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Yah she always sits in, to many thefts going on anymore, and she has been stolen a few times when my dad owned her. So i take no chances with her, i have so many memories with her from my dad, and then as my first car, it would destroy me if anything h append to her. But if anyone does steal her good luck selling any of the parts. My initials are engraved in in alot of parts, and documented with some pictures on where my initials are engraved. So even if someone scratches out the initials if they find them, it would be pretty easy with pics and detailed information to prove those parts were mine and track down the fuckers that stole them. And no i wont say where they are at lol, each piece has them hidden, just something i came up with because of all the shit getting stolen, and to help identify your shit if it ends up on another car. scooter stuff
I remember that car! A friend of mine restored it for his girlfriend. Shortly after that they broke up and she traded it in on a new car. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Lol yep, my dad bought it at a car dealership a LONG LONG time ago, been with us since the mid 90's if not early 90's. There were some major things wrong with her when my dad bought her, i remember they could NOT get the trunk open to start her since the silenoid runs off the battery, and no emergency trunk latch, dad said get me a jumper, and had them holding onto the buttons and pop, they were so amazed at him getting her open. Love my 510, mainly because of the memories of growing up with it. Just wish whoever had painted her before had done a better prep job, i can go out with my finger and flake paint off :(...i need to sand her down and put her in primer then a good paint job. But i just love how she looks as is, she looks like she did for years. Just hard for me to change anything visually about her. One of my favorite pics someone has taken of her. I just love this angle Quote Link to comment

I just love this angle I bought your dad's yellow 1200 about 15 yrs ago. I think he bought my old 1200 coupe, it was white w/ a blue nose. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Yah he had that one when he had the yellow one for a while. Remember you down there, i was way way smaller back then LOL Quote Link to comment
Tristin
I saw this bitch at Blue Lake last year... its great to know its yours. Maybe Ill actually meet you at the next get together. I can feel your worries on changing things on it, especially since its such a personal ride between you and your dad. Have you thought about just restoring it to a better condition, but aesthetically the same? Have it repainted better that same purple, freshly powdercoat the rims gold, all that jazz. It bet it would be nice to see you and your dads project back in top top shape. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
Beautiful 510  Hopefully thief doesn't have the same initials  I sure don't blame you on the extra protection. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
So updates. Got the repro grille from CoreAce. Love how it looks, nice to be changing some stuff. Have new carol shelbies for her , and i mean new, only 6 miles on them and their tires out of the box, were sitting for a long time. Need to wait untill i get the front end rebuilt and aligned before i put them on since i dont want to ruin the new tires with a bad alignment. But here are some pics. Here in the next few years im really going to start working on her once my son is a age to realize what hes doing and start retaining knowledge about the cars. I want it to be our project. Like ive said before, shes been this way for 20 years, i love this car, so ive had a very hard time changing ANYTHING about her, other than the rear spoiler. But its finally time, in the next few years paint is getting stripped, new headliner and ill be making new door panels for her, shes 90% complete, runs great, drives great, just needs cosmetic stuff done to her. Shes been the most reliable car i have ever had, shes always ALWAYS been there for me, i love this 510 more than any other (yes slightly more than art) because i have so many memories with her. Yes dirty engine bay, unlike art shes the dirty one. Mocked up my shelbies next to her, look good. Also mocked up my air dam, its been sitting a long time, i need to fix the rubber skirt, and re paint it (this air dam was hit a LONG time ago and almost broken in half, i brought it back to life because its been in the family forever, im very nostalgic. I think once shes mounted up correctly she will look great :). 1 Quote Link to comment
r0p0doe
That thing is going to look sick with the new grill and wheels, and your removing the wing? Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Wing stays on, wing has history behind it , and alot dont like it, but i do, plus it serves a purpose, it keeps the trunk down if it de latches LOL. The purple on the airdam did not come out ANYWHERE near the purple on the car, even though the cap matched perfectly LOL. looks good to have the air dam back on there, lip is finally on right as well for the rubber skirt. Only put 4 tight bolts and washers on there in case i need to take it off fast, going to get some zip ties for it as well to run through the extra hole. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Finally found my extra SSS emblem i had from a 411 grille. Going on purple since my old datsun round emblem is to big, and doesnt curve with the grille. Just need to put new pegs on this and clean it up some more. May paint over the chrome black, and do the letters silver with red white and blue checker marks. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Put my 411 sss badge on. I like how it looks. 1 Quote Link to comment
DatMo
wait why isnt the grill straight? it looks damaged in the last pics? but in all, sick car man! Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
LOL its the way the light is reflecting off the bottom chrome onto it it. Trust me its straight, the light is making it look warped, i noticed that to. 1 Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
My new SSS badge came in. I love how it looks, going to peel the nismo sticker off the back and put the badge i had in front on the trunk. 1 Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
Dude are those vitaloni baby turbo rear views,im looking for a set for my red truck. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Dont think they are, their from the 90's when it was easy to get decent side mirrors for datsuns. I have a few sets left put up because this set the hinge joints are starting to go bad after 20 years. Also as to the front plate, i have to have a plate, it had been 20 years since the front plate was taken off...and under it on the chrome was a mess, tried to clean it but didnt come out right, i had the nissan plate laying around so just threw it on. banzai510(hainz)
get rid of that rubber skirt on that airdam I like Dillion's Spook airdam on his KA 510 Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
The rubber skirt is on there for a few reasons. 1, that air dam was nearly ripped in half once, lot of repair work into it so the skirt keeps some chunks and cracks hidden. 2. The true rubber is hard to find, and i always use protection ;). Also purple used to have a spook air dam 15 years ago...untill a semi re-tread shot off in front of my dad and ripped it off on the freeway. Fastest way a air dam can get destroyed :( I had those turbo mirrors i think on my blue 620...or something close to them. Thats the thing that sucks nowadays, finding good old style mirrors is a bitch. Compared to the 90's when baxter auto had a SHIT load of mirror choices. Quote Link to comment
