Jester
question: should i make the trans tunnel bigger to tuck the exhaust, or should i run it bellow the bracing? it will be about an inch lower than the frame, and probably scrape where ever i go... What about tucking your exhaust just enough to be above the bottom frame rail? This would lessen the intrusion on the inside. EDIT: Went back a couple pages to get a better idea of what your looking at. Are your X braces welded in the center of the frame rail? Seems that will be about the limit for tuck. Cpl620
yeah, i didnt think that one through too well. ill get some oval pipe down the road and redo it. for now its going to be scraping. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Make your own oval pipe in the center section. Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Did you finish the exhaust? If not, I vote for reworking the tunnel. :) Quote Link to comment
datta620
nice build man. any updates? Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
Nah, I started the exhaust a little more that what is there. I ran out of money for now and school started back up. The only problem with running it on top is im running an X pipe so it would get in the way some way or another. Later ill go with a trudual exhaust and run it through the tunnel. No updates right now. Things left to do are finish the exhaust. Redo the clutch, run wiring, build the tunnel and fire wall, run cooling system. A few cuts to fit fenders and bed. Then tune the thing. Quote Link to comment
Jester
Hey man, it can wait. Just concentrate on your school work. Right now is the perfect time to take a break from the build and just think about what you want to do next break. While you are daydreaming in class about it though, consider doing the exhaust and tunnel the way you want and do it first. Really digg'n the build man. Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
wow, almost 2 months since I've touched this thing. its just been sitting in the driveway collecting dust. learning Japanese and Math is hard foo! plus i started training for the Crossfit games...and started playing a new online game...but im broke, so yeah. Drive shaft is on order on Oct. 1st then its just small shit and me actually having time to finish up the small remaining crap. lots of cutting more than anything. only welding left is on the exhaust and making mounting points to clip the front end to. shit, i forgot i have to make a new shifter assy. fml. 2 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
So i got to work on the truck a little today. i had to pull the engine, take apart the clutch and re-mic everything for the proper bolts and crap. took most of my time, so i just cut the front up a little to put it back on and start looking like a truck again. Also bolted up the Drive shaft. the engine actually looks kind of small with the front end on and the fender wells cut out. 9 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
are the strut towers going to be reworked since you found it was too high? or you just gonna run those spacers you had on there before? Quote Link to comment
Cpl620
spacers for now. the towers will not be re-worked, im just going to get smaller coils later on. 1 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
Incoming exhaust pictures. I decided to run them back along the side like a corvette... complete with titanium dimpled heat shields...oh shit. But there also tucked enough that the side splitters will cover them when im at the track. 2 Quote Link to comment

Cpl620
Thanks teague, its feels like its been a long time coming, but this build is actually going pretty quick all things considered. Another week and a half of school and then ill be back on it full time. There is a local show on the 13th so ill be towing it out. I expect start up before the end of the year. Im out a computer right now or I would upload pics, they're just sitting on my phone. This exhaust is harder to make than I thought. Should of figured....hahhaha. Quote Link to comment
teagueauto21
I feel you man, I figured id be done with my rear swap by now. I kinda underestimated the little nit picky things that go into this swap, I can't imagine doing the front and rear like you did! Quote Link to comment

Jester
After you pull the wire out of the liner, take the whip out of the machine. Grab both ends with one hand creating a big loop. Smack that shit on the ground a couple times then blast it with compressed air. FREAKING AMAZING how much shit comes out. When you go to put your wire back through the feed rolls, shove it through an ear plug to wipe away shop dust and particles of crap. Helps keep your feed rolls and the liner nice and smooth. Welding supply houses sell a welding wire cleaner pad for this, it just cost more money. If your cheap, use and ear plug at least. 2 Quote Link to comment
