Farmer Joe
thanks guys! ive been kind of amazed how this cobbled mess has been doing as the daily driver. ive finally figured out the mileage, and its getting about 22mpg.. i beat the hell out of it tho. it just a lot of fun. i also got MPH app on my phone and was surprised how quick this thing is. 40mph in 2nd, 55 in 3rd, whatever i want in 4th and holy shit in 5th... im still plagued with the throttle not going back to idle all the way sometimes. ive made an L shape piece that i need to weld to the bellcrank on the carb. the throttle spring attach point is just too close the throttle shaft and cant always pull it back to full idle. it 'works' right now, but i need some more leverage for the spring. still waiting to get the 3 link goin, but it might have to wait till i have the 73 running. we'll see. more to come! Farmer Joe
did some tinker work on the truck today.painted the hood..i dig it a lot!i also resolved the issue with the carb not coming back to idle.i took the bellcrank off and welded a L shape with a nice hole. drilled a hole in the throttle cable bracket, and bam!works great now.the carrier bearing fix fell apart too, but i fixed it...more to come... 2 Quote Link to comment
heretic
I like that matte & gloss combo on the hood..... looking good  Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
How did you fix the carrier bearing, did you use the coil isolator fix that (I think) PDX Matt posted up? Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
knockn out one issue at a time!!! Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
i havnt seen that carrier bearing fix yet.. they used the mount for a coil to hold the bearing? hmm.. i have this 3/4in thick hard rubber mat that i cut some 1x3in chunks out of. i stripped the rubber off the bearing. used a 2 rubber chunks to hold the bearing up on the bottom. put the U shaped hoop back on with the bolts all the way loose. then stuffed a bunch of the rubber chunks in the rest of the open space in the hoop on top. when you tighten the bolts for the hoop, it compresses the rubber chunks around the bearing pretty well. since theres not alot of forward to backward movement on the driveline, it works. when i get it jacked up again, ill snap a picture. 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
carrier bearing fix fell apart again on the way to work.. had to get a ride. got it fixed after work. hopefully is will work for a little bit longer. snapped a pic of how ive been fixing it... lol its not pretty, but it works really well for what it is... more to come... wayno
Your low enough, can you go with a one piece driveline? Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
i could, but id have to cut the cab in the tunnel so it didnt rub. its already rubbed at one point in the past... i found a replacement bearing and rubber on the internets for cheap, so im gonna get that shipped out. ]2eDeYe
New carrier bearings are cheap enough. Nice to not have vibes too :) Quote Link to comment

sedition88
I love those wheels on there. Changes the look of the truck abit, for the better  1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
i agree! i do have some bad news tho... the hood flew up on wednesday when i got the wheels on.. sooo, im gonna get that sorted out here soon, but till then, hoodless. fun fact: having tires properly balanced is key to not flying off the road... lol found one placed it was rubbing on the rear driver fender.. worked that out. no rubs anywhere else.. im kinda proud of myself! more to come.. 1 Quote Link to comment
sedition88
I had to roll my rear fenders twice before they stopped rubbing while I drove. I need to roll them alittle bit more so they'll tuck while I've got weight in the back. As for you hood, I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't flown open before now, just cause how high it sits. MantisX620
What offset are you dealing with there Farmer? I was looking at a similar set of these on ebay but theyre 15x8 and -19 I think. Thanks MantisX Quote Link to comment
henryhustler
i used the carrier bearing fix where you buy the coil spring booster and cut it out. worked great and hasn't slipped yet, but if you can just get new stuff that's always the best route.. but your truck looks AWESOME! 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
ahhh, i get it now... one of those rubber circles. thats a good fuckin idea! What offset are you dealing with there Farmer? I was looking at a similar set of these on ebay but theyre 15x8 and -19 I think. Thanks MantisX its gotta be close to a -51 offset on a 15x10. they have 205 55 tires all around. i make it all fit! muahahaha and photo dump.. 2 Quote Link to comment
sedition88
I may have already said it, but it looks way better with those wheels instead of the gmc wheels 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
thanks man! i dig em too. theyre being a bitch when it comes to getting them balanced for all speeds, but ill deal with it.. prolly the tires at this point, and i just dont care lol... when lorri needs the wheels back, im gonna go for the same -51 in the back, and ill go for like a -44 in the front when i get the 720 suspension swap done. 1 Quote Link to comment
sedition88
Yeah that'd be cool. No sense going with a thinner wheel either cause you already rolled the fenders :D Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Looks tough  You need me to send you some front marker lights? Quote Link to comment
MantisX620
Trucks sick! Thanks for the offset numbers. I think I can get a -19 under mine with no mods. Plus im not sitting nearly as low! Quote Link to comment
