Okay, I ran into some freaky.
Stuff.
My car is a 69 because all the body and the dash.
My wiring is of a 70-72.
I found 69 wire colors where 70-72 wire colors!
Totally confusing!
If you use the 70 wire color, you will get lost for sure.
No except for the dash, the tail lights and brake lights are 69!
Maybe someone replace the front.
I don't know.

Low beams were positive switched on and off.
High beams were negative switched!
I pulled the original relay and feed a new sensor line!

Also replaced the battery.
Red Top was over 5 years old.
Hahahahaha!

I have to say when I run the 4 lows now I can see much farther than before.
With the H4's so much more brighter.

Good news the alternator holds 14.34 volts with all four low beams and the wipers and heater on.
Which is freaken awesome.
Looks like I did pretty good on that option for sure.

I mounted a fuse box near the battery.
It has room for 6 blade style fuses.
I am running some 20 to each low beam relay.
I haven't run and amp draw test yet.
Give me a day or two.

Also I think it is time to replace my fuel pump.
Started bogging out on the freeway again.

If I hold it to the floor long enough she dies. Back off the gas for one sec and reduce throttle and power back on.

May have a sticky float leveler.
At least that is what I was told by a few.
I think it is time for a new fuel pump!

Have any of you manual pump guys switched over to the electric one?

I have also read the the 32/36 doesn't like more than 3.5 psi.
This says max 4.5 psi.
That makes me worried.
But the manual is the same.
Should I be alarmed?
I do have a gas return still on my car.

One day I am going to powder-coat it.

If I use electric, should I get a fuel regulator?

Which would need to have a fuel pressure gauge, too?

Looking for advice on which way to go!

If you have a return line still in your car, you don't need a regulator. The extra fuel supplied by the electric pump will return to tank when the needle in the carb shuts. I installed a 720 electric pump (found on the right side frame rail under the front of the bed) on my new 620 and it works awesome. Very quiet even temporarily mounted to my inner fender. Be sure to wire it so it shuts off if the engine dies without the key being switched. IF you were to be in an accident that causes you to loose awareness, the pump will shut off when the engine stops running.

Thank, you!

If all else is well this year I will be there!
Tryed to get to the Saturday meet and greet .

But everyone in my hose has been sick.
I am scared I may be the carrier.
Because I am not or have I been sick with nothing more than a bad cold.
Don't want to make anyone else sick.
The wife and kids have been shooting stuff out both ends!
LOL!
So no one will see me or my car today for sure!

Good to see ya back man and the goon on the road....missed ya last Canby.

....goon is lookin sharp!!

Jester thanks for the vote of confidence.

Is there a link to how you set up the wiring?

I have always just hooked it up to power and ran them thru the ignition switch.

I realize the danger in doing it that way now.
I am already black. Don't want to be charcoal black!
Hahahaha!

I am having running issues on the freeway.

Still!

I changed out the fuel pump.
Still bogging above 55 mph.

I may have a small vacuum leak.

I will get a new set of gaskets.
The accel pump in the carb is holding suction, and not leaking.

Someone mentioned to me.

The metal return line has a regulator in it.

They say it could be failing. Thus the reason my car is starving for fuel?
Anyone have any ideas.
Never had this problem before.

Since the carb has two inlets.

I am going to be running hose straight from the mechanical fuel pump to the cab and use the other line to go to the fuel return line to the tank?

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Here is something that has been in the back of my mind for 3 years.
Every Datsun L motor I have ever had has had something this car doesn't.
There is the spacer that goes in between the fuel pump and the head.
This car does not have this!
Should it have one?

Somewhere I read the pump needs this spacer to work right.
Otherwise it is not getting full throw of the pump.
It has been so long!

Any thoughts guys?

I'm not sure on the pump spacer. Mine have all had one and never even looked into if it HAD to be there. I could possibly see where the arm would be too close to the eccentric to achieve full stroke on the pump.

I have my electric pump temped in just to make the truck run and get the bugs worked out. I bought this truck with a fresh engine that needed to be finished. I was thinking of running it off the coil: no spark?---No fuel!

On the return, there shouldn't be a regulator. No need to regulate the return of unused fuel.

Okay, Mike came over and brought me the Fuel Pump spacer!

Thank you Mike!

He came over with another buddy.
I am terrible with names, I got a picture of his car and mine.

His wagon is dropped really low.
Has 4" drop blocks on the rear.
Man.
Car looks good, it is in progress of having a new motor.

It was nice to see another one running around Portland.

That is what I did, my brother!
Just ran a hose straight  from the fuel plump to the carb!
I did look the fact I had it.
But if it don't work it should not be in my car!

I called Hawaii , to talk to my uncle.
He is the Datsun Master in our family!
He said put that one on it.
He says it belongs there for full stroke of the pump.
And if it is not there your no getting full pressure from the pump.

It is, he who taught me that 35 years ago!

You shouldn't need to run the return line if you got a Weber ,, block it off and see if that helps any... I would have never thought your fuel pump would work without a spacer,, let alone 3 years!!
