Doctoraudio's 1969 Snow White Goon

Recommended Posts

I have a sinus infection.

So, I am sick. The infection is causing me to have migraines!

Antibiotics, here I come!

I picked my mother up in Snow White at the Airport.

Between my parents, my mother would be the one to beat you in and out the corners.

I let her drive my VW rabbit for a year. She would always come back from the beach, with a smile on her face. She loved it!

Well she said, your front end is too stiff fro the car. Then told me hit some corners hard. So I did. She said it hugs pretty good.

Anyway, that is how my day went.

Hope you guys had a great day and thanks for reading!

Peace.

Yesterday, Met up with some guys and it was fun to hang out and BS about Datsuns.

After that I came home barrowed a drill from a friend.

My drills, I haven't used them in so long the batteries are dead!

I installed a Mr.Gasket 12S electric fuel pump.

http://www.vichubbard.com/auto-part-detail/mr-gasket-12s-electric-fuel-pump.html

It made a performance difference. I did have some tuning issues , but I think I have worked those out some.

I do have two vales tapping. Which I will fix today. No biggie , done that maybe a 1000 times before. It will be the first time I am going to remove the valve cover.

I am going to try and get her to purr today. It should not be to hard.

On other note, My RC friends are all bitching, since I haven't flown with them in a month.

Every time they call , I tell them I am busy.

Sheeze , I haven't even finished building my new T-rex 600 or even put my T-rex 500 back together after the last big crash.

I have to get my boat ready for this seasons races. Plus get some practice laps going.

Plus I need to order about 200 bucks in batteries for this season.

Plus I need a new fishing reel, I love bass fishing.

Damm there goes the money again. That is what the wife will say!

heheheheh. I can't take it with me!

Yo Pakalolo,

make sure you but a reg on the fuel pump. it still needs to be about 3 pponds as its hard on the needle valve on the carb. it could overpower the needle valve and flood out when it wears. unless you have a return line to the tank.

Your friend in hawaii. I dont know if it was him but I heard of a guy that used to race in the cain fields with his 510. But one day while rallying he hit 2 Samoans. Just so Happan a hawaiin cop showed up. He sees 1 lying about 25ft away and the other on top of the broken windshield. The driver was all upset. But the Hawaiian Cop said not worries brah, Then then procedee to the write up the Somoans. The One lying 25 ft away was arrested for leaving the scence of a crime and the 1 on the windshield for breaking a entering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ha ha

I was concerned about needing a regulator. But, I do have a return line.

So, I guess. I am okay

Dude That is some funny shit.

Hell I thought you was talking about me!

Hahahahahaha!

That is funny, for f-ing sure!

Best laugh all weak!

Okay, I decided to change the valve cover gasket because it was leaking some.

So, I pulled the it off. The inside is very clean.

While i had it off, I had two thoughts. One to check my valve lash. The other start polishing the valve cover to get ready for final polish!

While a friend told me that if my valves seem loose. Go up one size and see if it will not go.

So I checked the intake. with a .008 and they all seemed perfect. Then check the out. 2 and 3 are perfect.

1 and 4 are loose. I can stick a .012 in between there and not on 2 and 3.

Now here comes the problem. I can't get the dam thing loose to adjust it!

Wth, *&^*^&^(&(&(&()&)& and ^%$&%&%&% and then Son of a*&^*(&^&&(& !

Should I warm the engine back up and then try again?

Well, guys.<div>I got the exhaust valves adjusted. It just took a long wrench.</div><div>All of the tuners on my street was telling me that my valve lash was good. I kept looking at them like they was crazy. Only the guy, who has a Jetta who is building a new motor for it; came close enough!</div><div>I always ask questions, because most of this stuff I haven't done in 15 years at least.</div><div>But, What I remembered my valve lash on the exhaust was more like .014 not .010 cold.</div><div>The car would rock back and forth like it had a high ratio cam in it. One of the thing that made me wonder about the exhaust, was the tapping noise I heard at high rpms.</div><div>Plus when I would turn the car over, I needed to step on the gas twice to get it to idle.</div><div>I never had to do that on any other L- engine I ever had.</div><div>So, I kept scratching my head.</div><div><br></div><div>Once getting the valve lash to .010 on the exhaust, I turned the car over without stepping on the pedal. It started right up and idled.</div><div>The idle was, still misfiring a bit. But it was running better. </div><div>That was a positive move. </div><div>Then we checked the compression of the cylinders. They came out like this.</div><div>145 135 150 145<br><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I was very happy with this reading.</div><div>I will be watching that number two cylinder for the next two months, to see if I can get it to get better.<br>I can say, that no we watched each cylinder for about 3 mins each and there was only a drop of about 5 lbs of pressure in 3 mins.</div><div>Happy about that.</div><div>Then I was, finally hooked up the breather hose off the valve cover gasket to the carb. Like it should be!</div><div>It seemed the car ran better at higher rpm.</div><div>When we pulled the spark plugs out and looked at them I noticed a couple of them look like they may have been in the car for at least the last 5 years.</div><div>So I replaced them with some new ones.</div><div><br></div><div>Autolite Xp Iridium/Spark Plug</div><div><a href="http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Autolite-Xp-Iridium-Spark-Plug/1969-Nissan-Datsun-510/_/N-iw7i1Z9n80x?counter=0&amp;itemIdentifier=896899_0_0_" class="bbc_url" title="External link" rel="nofollow external">http://www.autozone....ier=896899_0_0_</div><div>Hell,they have a 2 buck rebate each</div><div>Now a couple days ago I was doing some research on the 32/36 carb. </div><div>t has a throttle fuel shut off valve and it should be connected to 10-14 volts. Good deal!</div><div>Well after checking, I was surprised. Okay guys.

I have had a week off from messing with my 510.

Mostly enjoying the things that was done.

The motor is running perfect, I have a small miss. But I am waiting for my new wires, cap and rotor to get here.

That should fix that!

Saturday , I was with the guys from Northwest Datsun club.

Well I guess I am one of those guys now. I joined the club the night before.

It was fun totally fun. I took my 9 year old daughter with me and she had a great time.

She didn't want to go home after that either. She was like lets go back around again.

We really spent some quality time together. It was totally nice.

northwestdatsunclubspriu.jpg

She doesn't like to take pictures.

Here is some of the guys lined up.

Funny thing was there was like 6 wagons there and 3 of them was white.

northwestdatsunclubsprip.jpg

I am going to do this to mine, I love the cover so you can't see what's inside the car!

northwestdatsunclubspri.jpg

When my wife say this one, she remembered the one we had about 12 years ago. Mine was red! To bad the guys I sold it to, got it taken from him; By the state!

This were the best looking wagons there, to me.

This one was the fastest wagon there. He changes rims more than I change shoes! Hehehe!

I had one just like this when I was 19 years old a year before I met my wife.

Chick magnet.

There was 30 cars and trucks.

Sorry, I was more into the wagons.

Here is the my plans for this week.

Get the driveshaft shortened. I bought another one. It came from a Sedan. It is 2.4 inches shorter than the one that is on my wagon now!

So, it only has to be shortened by 3 inches.

Put in the 5 speed tranny.

Second, thing is too hide all the wires under the hood.

I am going to rewire the whole thing and hide as many wires as I can!

I think I can make them disappear.

So, I am going to try and do it!

rewire it? eh... i wouldn't cut up the wiring, sooner or later it will have gremlins, and it really kills value. especially if its just a bunch of one color wire added into the main wiring, with black tape

Maybe unhook what you got in there and see about running it thru the inner fender hole?

I think he meant wrapping the harness in black tape, like the vinyl sticky electrical tape. I found a roll of non-adhesive black tape on ebay a while back. It looks just like the factory stuff and can be wrapped/unwrapped if need be. The only harness I have gotten rid of so far on my car is the wiper harness, I ran it back inside and behind the dash and then ran it out of the hole just under the wiper motor. That gets rid of that harness that crosses the firewall there. It's just an example though of how you can just reroute wires to hide them instead of running new wires.

I will make it look much better than it does. I don't think it looked like that from the factory.

It has to be cleaned up for sure!

s022s.jpg

Here is a picture of the tranny when I picked it up.

Here is a picture of the tranny after it was cleaned. It took two days of soaking it with engine degreaser.

Then it was pressure washed with 2300 PSI. Looks great now!

I was going to paint the tranny. But I have thought about it and decided not to paint it.

I really don't think it will make much a difference. Because no one gets to see it anyway.

Now, I am wondering what all the switches are on the right side of the tranny. There is three of them.

I know one of them has to be the reverse switch. I also think one of them is a neutral switch. I could be wrong. What do you guys think or know?

cleantrans001.jpg

It is out of a 240 Z.

I have rechecked my MPG and It seems it if I drive like a little old lady. It is about 28 MPG, If I drive like I like to which is not speeding it is about 22 MPG. So about 220 miles to a tank.

I think that is pretty good. Is any one getting better than that with an L18, with a 32/36?

I agree with you there, those wires can go. If you haven't already, check out vintage connections' website. He has a lot of the factory type connectors available, so if whomever wired that mess in hacked the harness you can repair it back to factory with new parts. Factory booty covered spades, booty covered bullet connectors(that are the correct Japanese size), hardshell connectors, etc.
