fisch
When you can drive her daily is when she's ready for serious modding. This man speaks the truth! Man I wish I had started in the hobby when I was you age. Plus if I had (almost 20 years ago), the Datsuns I'd find would have a lot less rust then they do today! Quote Link to comment
Datsun510project
fixed it ;) Seriously though, don't get too ahead of yourself kiddo. It's nice to have plans, but tackle one problem at a time. Too many tasks at once and you'll find yourself in over your head just like me. :( Start with the essentials! When you can drive her daily is when she's ready for serious modding. Words of wisdom right thur! yeah i kno man thats what its at right now. Quote Link to comment
SoCal Rotarito
Welcome! Lucky for you lots of awesome dime owner here to tell you whats best for your dime. Good Luck! Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
Another thing would help on your planning, go to any Datto get together you can find and then go to Canby. All the reading and pics you can find can help, but having the real deal in front of you and being able to talk to the owner of the car can help in so many more levels. I thought I knew what I was going to do to my truck, at least till I went to Canby, now I have more options and ideas and found a way to make my truck even more of a towing monster with no change to the motor! Fellow Datto owners are usually pretty cool and helpful when it comes to showing how to make you ideas happen. :D Quote Link to comment

Zonker
30 years ago my first car was a 510 and this day I'm still sick with the dime fever. IMO you couldn't ask for a better first. Kid, If there's one thing I can pass on it's this, Short cuts are expensive. Take your time and do it right the first time. God speed Jr. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
my advice: don't change a thing. Put the wheels you like on it and enjoy driving it. If you change a lot of stuff you will be driving it less. I'm partial to slotted mags but you might want something more modern may I suggest SSR Mark II like on my Datsun pickup Or if you want to make everyone happy get Panalites. Cheaper than SSR but not by much. Quote Link to comment

Suspect
I wish I could even find a 510 period..... don't even care if its toast, as long as it was capable of rolling and not collapsing to the ground. I rather drive a toasted datsun over most cars. My first car/truck was a 1973 Datsun 620, still have it. I bought it when I was 14 for $50 to use as a field beater. Now I wish I would have never done that, I didn't know what I had. It was nearly spotless when I bought it. I'll be 26 shortly, just recently brought the truck back to life. I own several Datsun pickups. I buy everything I can find and afford at the same time. At least you are in an area where it seems like there is alot more Datsun around. In the last 6 years, I haven't seen another Datsun pickup locally anywhere. Quote Link to comment
