bilzbobaggins
Just finished reading your build thread. I woke my girlfriend up playing your start up video. Awesome and inspiring on all levels and fronts. Thank you 1 Quote Link to comment
Busta Nut
That surge tank idea is BAD ASS!! Well done Josh   1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
You might want to look into a quick patent application on this. I could lead to a nice pay-day from some radiator/automaker. But it may already be done, I just dont know of it. Quote Link to comment
Draker
I've always heard patents are incredibly expensive to obtain. It's a great idea though. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Honestly guys it would be a waste of time and money. All a manufacturer would have to do is change up the baffling inside it and they could claim substantial difference and get another patent or just get away with ignoring his. Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I have a patent on something and I can tell you it cost $10,000...... 1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
Well, I've learned something. That's fucking Donkey Kong. Quote Link to comment
uieluck
I have a patent on something and I can tell you it cost $10,000...... I have a patent on absolutely NOTHING and I can tell you it's over $10,000.... :D Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
My understanding is that the worthwhile part/time is the patent pending.....you get the protection without the cost. By the time it's up, you've gotten a jumpstart.....provided you're making/selling them yourself. I wouldn't spend the money on one.....if it's at all interesting, the chinese are going to copy it. Brad, at TacticalKeychains.com has had several products/ideas copied by the chinese so far......even ones he had patented. 1 Quote Link to comment

q-tip
The Chinese don't care, you go there with a lawsuit they say "no, its different" and you get jack shit. Quote Link to comment
Draker
Seen it many time with patented z32 parts. Chinese copy and sell worldwide. Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Patents are granted by country. A US patent only has authority in the US unless granted authority elsewhere by treaty between us and the country honoring it. The Chinese have no obligation to respect US patents. The most a patent holder could do is prevent importation and sale of the copy part in the US. Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Yup. I've been cleaning the shop last couple of times out there. It got a little crazy... I need everything clean and put away so I can pull the motor and get the bay prepped for paint. Before pulling the motor I need to build a mount plate and braces that will allow me to mount the bulkhead connector after I solder wires and place it in the exact location it will be once the motor is installed. Then I can pull the wires forward and route nicely to the connectors all while on the engine stand and not hunched over in the bay... Anyways. Lots of work. Motor will be out this weekend. 1 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
If you didn't make everything so amazing it wouldnt be such hard work. 2 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Is that what I'm doing wrong?..... ;) Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Got accomplished what I wanted to today. Motor is back out for the last time. Now it's on to final prep of the bay and get ready for paint!! Here's what's left of my harness. Bare essentials.... 33 wires and I would say at least 5 of those are redundant and will be bundled... 5 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
I decided it was best to build the harness now while its all fresh in my mind. I have time so now is as good as any... Made my ghetto temporary bulkhead connector mount... Oops.... Wires... The whole harness. Not much left... I'm not really excited about building the harness.. Never done one before and I'm not sure if I'll live up to my own expectations... It's gotta be clean and the room for error is nil... 4 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Wires all soldered. I LOVE this solder iron... Started wrapping. Gonna start over..shrink tubing didn't have glue and my torch was a little too hot.. Need a heat gun. Gonna be a long grind to make it nice. 3 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Looks a shit ton better then my wiring, but I didn't clean it up.....ever... 1 Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Then that should set the bar relatively low :) Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Then that should set the bar relatively low :) I put it all in some plastic loom but its still on top of the intake and there is more of it than there needs to be, its semi clean but nowhere near what you're doing. 1 Quote Link to comment
