The S10 was designed for Nissan's rotary engine, hence the swoopy styling.

Nissan Silvia LS Type X

In 1972 Nissan showed its rotary at the Tokyo Motor Show and in 1973 invited journalists to drive rotary test mules. It was high performance all the way.

Unfortunately then the Gas Crisis (Oil Shock) happened and suddenly performance was out, economy was in. Nissan quickly changed the S10 preliminary design to use the standard L-series engine.

And a classic was born. The S10 came out in 1975 in Japan, a year before it appeared in USA.

Nissan, which markets the Japanese Datsun, had been expected to Introduce a rotary car sometime next spring. It delivered Its Wankel-powered auto to the Japanese Government for certification last March but now has withdrawn It from the certification program. Its future seems to be In some doubt.

Yep.

Nope.

FWIW, there are lots of companies that offer aftermarket springs in several diameters, including 2.25", 2.5", 3", 4", and 5". One of those is bound to fit. Need to measure spring ID then start shopping around.

Or if you're good with a welder, put a 2" OD stub on the body and a 2.5" ID stub on the axle, then just install a threaded collar and 2.5" ID spring back there too. Would need pretty short springs though.

These are leaf sprung in the back. You can put lowering blocks in the back, or get your springs re arched, if u go super low you may have issues getting your rear tires on and off due to the fender design. Im looking to seeing how close pinto springs are to these, as there is a few companies that make different rates and arch heights for oval track use.

Hi everybody, I'm pretty new here but I've been driving Nissans since I was 18 so that's over 25 years. I've really enjoyed looking at everyone's photos on this thread so I thought I'd share mine. Here are some photos of my very first Nissan, a car I wish I could get back. It was a 1983 slick top . It had a Z22E and an automatic. It was a cruiser and I had a lot of fun in that car. Don't laugh too much at my accessory choices (or hair... okay, laugh at the hair). I was a kid, it was the 80's. I had a solid black 1980 S110 hatch as well but I think all the photos are long gone now. Luckily I have plenty of this car.  I hope you enjoy the pics. Next I will post some of my current ride.

Here is my current pride and joy, a 1985 200SX, I've come a long way in 25 years! This one is a CA20E with 5 speed, digital dash, sunroof, factory cassette stereo with graphic eq. Pretty much every option save the turbo and hatch. She's got 77,000 miles and is not a daily driver. More of a fair weather, special occasion car. I do drive her though, I am trying to keep it as close to bone stock as possible for as long as possible.

That second car brings back painful memories. Had one identical to it, in options and condition. Until a 16-year-old girl driving a Chevy S-10 Blazer wasn't paying attention and rear ended me, totalling the car.   :crying:

But it's really cool.

And I'll never give you any guff for keeping the miles off it. Wish I had done the same with mine.
