Cuts metal like mad
:D Watch the video at the bottom and you'll see why. (found on hybridZ) http://jalopnik.com/5302246/awesome-defined-the-10+liter-radial+engined-goggomobil Quote Link to comment
hessianben
Man, that almost brings tears to my eyes, seeing that level of craftsmanship and creativity. Dont' have a transmission? just build one. EVERY TINY PART OF IT !!! insane. I'd love to see an indepth video of the build. Quote Link to comment
denveratsun
SHUT THE HECK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: and many more gestures of nearly obscene disbelief. Good one zuum! Really? You just built yourself a transmission? Really?...you have that kind of time? Wait...you have that kind of patience?...oh yeah...and you are REALLY that smart? Germans...beyond mere humans!:D SHUT THE HECK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
Bleach
I just built a 6-speed manual transmission.... easy Quote Link to comment
hoov100
works perfect for that build.. Quote Link to comment
bonvo
alot of time and effort but WHY? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Worth it if he pulled a smokey burn out to 50 then flipped over a few times from the torque, sparks flying, screaming sounds.... Why only 360 hp? some of those radial engines made monster power. Maybe they wouldn't fit? Quote Link to comment
MAG58
Why only 360 hp? some of those radial engines made monster power. Maybe they wouldn't fit? You have to understand, that's 360hp at probably 1800ish rpm. That means it's just over 1000 ft/lbs. You can motivate a whole bunch of car with 1000ft/lbs of torque. Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
I don't know why, but I couldn't stop laughing while watching it. Its silly yes, but so fucking cool! When you build a car like that, there is no answer to the question why. Its just so... kinda like, "let there be light". :D Quote Link to comment
Bleach
The webpage says 666 foot pounds. Quote Link to comment
MAG58
666 foot pounds. DEVIL CAR but still... that would motivate that lil' gogomobil quite well. And high compression for these motors is considered around 7.5:1 thanks to what happens to octane at altitude. Turbo that thing... Quote Link to comment
watsonius
Been spending too much time and money getting my 85 Tercel legal in California. I would love to show at a Smog test station in that thing.... :D Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
That's too funny Zuum!! :) My "more power" moments are more along the lines of the amped up swiffer. But....I sure wish I had that guy's talent!! WOW! Great to see you Brian!! :) Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
With that much torque, and that light of car, it wouldn't even need a transmission, would it? Maybe it is overdrive -- maybe he'll get 10 MPG in overdrive. Two alternators! For a homemade transmission I didn't expect synchromesh. That's some nice work. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I like the torque converter :) I'm guessing it's a 24v system? It has two batteries too. I'm wondering if he actually made the gears from scratch, or modified existing ones to work. I know it says he build the transmission.....I just didn't see anything about the gears. He obviously didn't build the torque converter, but he sure did a lot of work to it to make it work. Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
Forward, neutral, reverse... not much of a transmission, but its hand made! :D Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Wouldn't running that much power through the diff backwards be hard on it? Cool ass build though. Quote Link to comment
