Phil's 510 2 door. The tranny 68

here is a small update. i bought a eprom chip that will take my speed limiter off and raise the rev limiter, a socket, and a consult cable. i already ruined a spare ecu trying to desolder the stock chip. so i will take it to a professional. i also found out that the consult wont work on my 8 bit 240sx ecu, so i have to hunt down a 16 bit stanza ecu. those have consult capabilities. i just need to read live sensor data. in order to find out whats causing my car to run slightly rich.

for the moment the stock ecu will do just fine.im just happy that i didnt have any major problems building the car. ive been driving it for a couple of days now, and it drives awesome:D thanks Steve!

With the Stanza ECU you need the cable for the consult plug (I'm guessing you don't have the factory 240sx consult plug on your 510?), with nistune there's a USB port that goes right on the ECU and tunning can be done without having to open up the ECU and changing chips.

i had an auto. it ran a little off with it so i swapped it with a 5 speed one. i destroyed it trying to desolder the ecu chip. nistune would be the ticket. but i think im going to get a cam and lifters before i do that.

today i installed my msd 6al box and tach adapter. i got a real good deal on it. feels a little better. but not worth the price if i would have bought it retail:D. i got a small gear oil leak in the back of the tranny. i picked up some parts the seal everything up. im going to put this one off a bit just cause im being lazy.

not much to update lately. i installed a tornado knock off. in the hopes that it cleans up the air flow so the maf wont be all messed up. also picked up an remote oil filter adapter. im going to build it slowly. its not a priority but its nice not to spill oil all over the x member.

Hey Phil - you can get high quality oil filters at Discount Import for $5. They have the Nissan part number on them..

thanks! The filter is just for mock up. I run wix. Is the nissan ones better?

not too long ago i gave parking lot drifting a try (i suck at it:(). a couple of things that need attention came up. my diff leaks cause i have no vent. shifter plate or rear tranny seal leak. need to hook up a front sway bar. my fuel filler neck leaks fuel. i took care of these problems exept the filler neck. i have a late 69 so it had the one piece one. i kept the three piece one of my 4 door. so i will be converting it. i ordered the top elbow from nissan in olympia. its a week late:mad:. i also added an ebay catch can. shit works. i must have lots of blow by. i undid the drain, and a bunch of oily crud poured all over my hand and frame rail.

ive been dealing with fuel smell inside the cabin. my gf really hated to ride in the car. this whole time i thought it was the one piece filler neck. but it was just a vent hose. turns out the one piece filler neck is a nos piece. its beautiful. im going to keep it unless someone offers me a good chunk of change for it. i converted to a three piece neck and replaced everything while i was at it. if it leaks now. im going to be pissed off. that oem filler elbow was spendy.

Dude, I didn't say anything because you said you wanted to use the one piece, but I wish I had known you were doing the 3 piece. I have 3 new top pieces in a box in the attic. They were like 16 bucks each when I bought them, I figured I'd stock up.

 

BTW I replaced that stuff and then eventually found my fuel smell which was a loose clamp on the top connection on my vapor tank :( took about 26 seconds to find with a smoke machine.....

 

BTWW I ordered that same catch can the other day :)

got a set of 14" enkei apache mesh with new 195 60 14 falken ziex ze912. got a good deal from Jeremy (sssr20det). went down this to his shop this morning and got them installed:fu:

my gf and mom pooled in some money to give me as a christmas present:D:D:D to buy whatever i wanted for my car. i hate having a vw part in my car. the effing radiator! so i ordered an afco from summit. it came in today. its not going in until next year. gotta save up in order to do a clean install. this thing is hella beefy

the idle has settled a bit. my tach resistor burned out so no tach signal. ecu code 21 no primary signal. i have one ordered from nissan. the idle settled a bit after i did this. to set the idle i unplugged the tps then the iacv, set the idle rpm using the ilde screw,plugged the iacv in then tps.

a while back my tach died. i traced it to the tach resistor on the coil harness. i bought the resistor and condenser from nissan:D

i need 1/4 window latches bad. so i got these from nissan. i guess i need other brackets too. my 2 door came with no latch parts.i need even the screws:confused:
