  2. finding out the last known registered owner can be the biggest problem. if you know his name you can write out your own receipt. and you cant have anything notarized unless the last legal owner is there with you. thats the notary part. but if you have a friend that notarizes you still need the previous owners name. if you dont know it your fucked. they wont tell you at the dmv.

  4. must have took a 420 brake and spaced the link.
  5. new ones right here. http://www.new-datsun-parts.com/datsun-pickup-parts.html
  6. there is a thread on this in the cars/trucks for sale section. http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=7410
  7. i just passed up a $35 autolite and $50 b.a alternator at schucks for a used pull-a-part one for $8.50 there is a reason they give lifetime warranties on this crap. i've seen people trade up 5-6 starters to get one that works. i couldn't imagine any rebuilds lasting 30-40 years. reputable shop or not. good luck bro.
  8. there is a 620 auto at pull-a-part in parkland/tacoma but i dont know the year.
  9. first pic is a 520. rest are 521's.
  10. check it by tapping on it with a hammer. this will usually make the valve seat seal and the fuel level go back to normal. this is not a fix but a test. tap on the bolt/needle seat valve that the fuel line attaches to while it's running.
  11. mike that was the phrase i was looking for!. i had another drive shaft laying around so i just installed it. i'll replace the joint on the bad one soon. my bad one didn't have a zirk grease fitting but the one i put on yesterday did so i lubed the hell out of it. i notice the front joint has no zirk either.
  12. i have a single points dist if your interested. pm me.
  13. for those wondering on a 521 where that other wire goes to on the fuel tank sending unit. it's the ground wire and it attaches to the frame rail next to the gas tank. the black wire.
  14. found it. i was screwing with the muffler and found this. REPLACE THAT U-JOINT BEFORE IT SMOKES YOU! so true. i should have looked closer when it first started vibrating. 3 months later, done deal. made me feel better after i ripped my mirror off with a recycle bin today. damn it.
  15. i always pull the tranny with the engine. if you think getting it out is hard wait till you put it back in. it occurred to me the other day that people removing just the trans on a 521 is the reason there are so many dented and fucked up tranny tunnels.
  16. i see this all the time. clean the connections at the sending units. like mike said, when in doubt ground that damn wire on the frame body or engine to test the gauge. but clean it with sand paper or something first. water temp sending unit and wire corrode from water and the fuel sending unit get muddy from road and tire dirt. clean them people.
  17. i have a major problem with how sooo much stuff is mislabeled and not cross referenced. some of the same parts that go on more than one model have different prices. the other day i looked at every part on the site and was amazed at the errors. gee i didn't know 520's were made from 66-72. typo errors like that drive me crazy. i feel like making a list of shit for him to correct. dont get me wrong i'm sure he's a nice guy. reminds me of the guy on ebay that is selling clutch/brake pedal pads as gas pedal pads for 521's. 320,520,521 never came with pads and the clutch/brake ones dont fit. wtf is wrong with people. makes me feel like i should buy one and leave a negitive feedback. but i wont, i'll just let everyone learn the hard way.
  18. jesus christ could the title be any more vague? or the discription for that matter.
  19. this was the engine that came in my 71 521 i bought 2 years ago. considering the block was green i presume it had a rebuild along the way.. yeah i turned the rings around a bit playing a little. well i think i found out why the blow by was coming out of the valve cover like a exhaust pipe. if i didn't have that rubber hose running down under the truck it would have killed me. it's in the scrap pile now. how do i get the rods off the pistons? i dont see any snap rings or keepers or anything. they look pressed. ok i see it now the fsw says to use a anbor press.
  20. looky looky what i found. i'm sure some of you have seen worse but it's fair to say this was still running when i removed it a few months ago. smoked like a bitch but ran. i think who ever rebuilt it last didn't do it right. the pistons were wobbling back and forth with my finger. the rings were smoked and the skirt on #3 was in the bottom of the pan in a million pieces. look at those deposits. i had a anti plug fouler on #4. these are ok to put back in right?
