yes i think the reason was my tripple guage kit cam with one adapter that only fit in that hole. the other adapter i bought was a s/w 16x1.5 part number 82573
i had 2 broken water pump bolts a few months back. i took off my water pump to slot the studs with my dremel disc and they just unscrewed with my fingers without even sloting them. i never helicoil. i always drill and tap back to original size.
mine has 2 dipsticks too. engine pics at the bottom of the page of the link. had something to do with the import engines.

i've done this.i have my original oil and water sending units with aftermarkets also. most people just unhook the originals. i did as dholic said and put the l20b housing on and took the vacuum switch out. i bought my adapter from wolfsco "williams oil filter service company". i have the receipt somewhere with the part number. i'll look for it now.
yeah thats what i've been told and what i believe but the knob has the headlight symbol on it not the hazard symbol. all of them. so i use mine as the headlight knob.
from my 71 521. these are off a 210 i think and look more like the pic in the owners manual.
the locking glovebox knob is cool to find. the red light switch knob is cool to have also and lets not forget the 520 chrome inner door handles and 520 metal package tray. some of the nice upgrades to have.
if you have a owners manual there is a pic of the original style in it. i got my pair off a 720 i think. one door had holes i had to drill the holes in the other door. some of the options on the 521 were so rare nobody has actually seen or had them. i've never seen an original pair. never seen door jam light switches on a 521 but added my own. they were also an option. i've seen the clock but it's super rare.
thats a very nice truck. if i were you i would try to track down the rare options like the locking glove box knob and locking fuel door among a list of other small things. then i would see if you have the original paint code sticker and redo the engine compartment. great score!
there is one in a oregon wrecking yard according to the wrecking yard report in the general section i think. the last page.

i just replaced my wheel cylinders and springs up front and it's pulling to the right. they are bled and if i adjust the right side looser than the left it still pulls to the right. low right tire? air in the left line? i even tried adjustment with the left side mostly tight with some drag.
also i bought front b&a brake hoses from rockauto and the threads were wrong. i remember having this problem with the clutch slave cylinder hose seeing as they share the same threads as the front brake hoses. anyone have a part number for the front brake hoses so i can get through nissan.cc? thanks
that is correct the black one is the ground. the wiring diagram in the haynes manual is for a 620 even though it says 521. this is stated on the first page of the fequently asked questions thread in the general discussion. i got rid of my haynes and now have a factory 521 manual. they come up on ebay all the time and last i looked the book store next to the tacoma dome had one for sale. also the owners manual has a wiring diagram also. i keep a copy in each glove box on my 521's just in case i need to take a peek.
i need to try to keep this thread updated for myself. so here is my new hood emblem and valve cover i decided to just leave it bead blasted maybe i'll paint it someday but i like the clean look of it for now.. also no pics but i installed door jam dome switches. been meaning to do that for a while.
next upgrade will be the electronic dizzy:)
you wouldnt believe the relief i feel just knowing all i need to do is swap sides. my plan a was to take the whole brake system including the lines off my 71 and put them on my 72. my 71 is the daily beater mind you. then buy the whole system out of the yard and put it on my 71. probably why i never got around to it.
