  2. when i say no compression it was more like o on #3 and 4 and 20lbs on #2 i dont remember #1 cause i was too baffeled i put a little oil in #4 and got around 30lbs and oil in #3 and got around 32lbs. fucking ridiculous. supposed to be 171lbs
  3. ok i found a pic of the early different style door. i never noticed before. also has the square wheel wells i was talking about.
  4. i've never seen more than one size fuel door on the 520's. i've seen different styles as far as locking and non locking and a a few different hinge styles but are all interchangable. i had a very early 520 bed i got from a fellow member (paul rip) it had square wheel wells in the bed instead of round wheel wells and it had the regular fuel door.
  5. no compression on all 4 wtf. could my timing be off that much? i'll check the v-notch. valves that out of adjustment?

  7. not always will there be water in the oil. my blown gasket had oil in my radiator, but no water in my oil. i drove it like that for more than a year. the piston rings were gone ant a skirt in the bottom of the pan. look for water or oil leaks on the left/starter side between the head and block compression test leak down test

  10. the radio block off plate has 2 tabs that have those push on style keepers on it. if you try to just pop out the plate you will break the tabs. i checked and i dont have a pic of the back of the plate but others on this site do. in order to put a cd player in you will have to cut out the din part of the dash where the radio goes. the 2 pieces with the holes. or you could put it in the glove box like this. there may be one original radio wire that is red i believe. you should download the manual from here http://www.olddatsuns.com//620tech.htm i'd be interested in buying your block off plate. pm me in you want to sell it please. my apologies to whoever's pic im using.
  11. the truck sectiion is the biggest and needs the most attention. sometimes i think the site should have been called ratsun truck cause of the number of threads. truck general section 320 section 521 section 620 section ect the major thing i liked about the old datsun pickup lovers site before it moved was its awesome sub categories. as far as 510's go i dont give a shit:D
  12. that part number may be correct. there was a heavy duty version of the 32kb02 that started with a hr. mklotz is the one to ask.
  13. i used to just block off my crank/block pipe.
  14. i was using a hose from my valve cover hanging to the street with a small plastic cylider type thing taped to the end of it with holes poked in the top. it caught all the blowby. my old engine had sooooo much blowby the valve cover hose looked like a tail pipe blowing white smoke and blue.. people would honk and point under my truck.:eek: rings were missing and a piston skirt was laying in the bottom of the pan. the tops of the pistons deformed looking. it still started and ran though.
  15. i've heard if you can run your finger across the scratch and feel it catch it with your finger nail that its too deep to buff out. just what i heard.
  16. i must be the only one but both of the regular adapters ive used i had to hog out the holes on one side of the carb. its never been a plug and play, bolt and go. one of them on a l20b and one on a l16. and one on a fellow members l18:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: anyone know what i'm talking about?
  17. here's what i did with mine. l20b. after i took the pic i drilled a hole in my new block off plate and screwed in a pcv valve.

  19. this is one of the reasons i hate heli coils. i wish people would just retap the threads to the same size. very rarely do you ever need to helicoil. i mean really how far down do you need to fuck the threads up before you need to helicoil. come on. i hate helicoil!!
  20. that floor mat looks new!! your package tray looks awesome, dont let your friends stick their feet on it. they are only made of glorified cardboard and are very condition sensitive. check to see if you have the original speaker under the glove box above the package tray. i'm curious if you have the jack with tools behind the seat or maybe an original unused spare tire under the bed. those things can be fun to find. maybe the owners manual in the glove box.:) it's good to see an original 521 pull in a couple grand. as stated it may have a frozen brake or leaky/bad clutch slave cylinder on the side of the trans. or the clutch. also as stated give a pressure wash and then clean the engine compartment by hand. maybe buff and wax the paint. keep in mind if you have a frozen brake/drum that the original inner wheel bearings are no longer available even the parts store says they are. they're wrong. there is a pair on ebay for $200 look for the 32kb02 ones like these. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Datsun-520-521-Pickup-NSK-Wheel-Bearings-32KB02_W0QQitemZ200397215677QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2ea89ad7bd most here will tell you to put a disc conversion on it. there are other options. do what you feel is right for you. nice truck man!!!!!!!
  21. nos 521 stuff is rare and hard to find. a good used wiper squirter nozzle goes for $20-30 and so does the white heater valve knob. you can have your heater recored by a radiator shop. any lock will work seeing as you can have it rekeyed and when the lock smith is done it will have a new chrome shinny face cause they have to take the old one off to rekey. the hazard switch with the black knob is easy to find but the red style knob that goes on it is rare. cig lighter was an option and is hard to find. choke cable with knob is hard to find. http://www.new-datsun-parts.com/datsun-pickup-parts.html those nos 521 door panels on ebay were tempting.
  22. he's had them for a couple years and i think he claims to have paid a high price for them. what he's asking "$200" is the price the dealer wanted when i tried to get them last. they refunded my money after they couldn't get them.
  23. shouldn't it run without a battery in it?
