  1. they should be the same size. do you have the tan block off plate? the 520/521/620 block off plates are all the same size. got a pic of yours?
  2. here ya go. even get the other cool stuff in this pic. locking glove box knob, cig lighter, red hazard knob which i use as a light switch knob considering it has a pic of a head light on it and a very cool metal 520 metal package tray.
  3. has anyone that actually bought one from rockauto checked to see if it fit and noted the brand? cause the one i ordered didn't fit and was a pain to return in the mail.
  4. here is mine. the 620 door switches will work too. yes i always grab the ones under the hood when i see them at the junk yard. you can buy new ones for other datsun models on ebay an newdatsunparts.com but i think they are way to expensive. the hardest part is running the wire down the a pillar. i was going to take pics the last time i did it but i forgot.
  5. hmm never thought of that and i got a few in my truck.
  6. i cant wait to put mine together. that first pic is mine. what carb do you have on it?
  7. the a87 and 219 are 2 different heads. general discussion freq asked q's sticky used to have the jason grey info link but i dont see it. fella's?? 1/4 way down on that page has some info. Phatdave says: A87 open or closed Found on many L-18 and L-20B's. The "domestic" version usually came with open chambers. Many of the "used Japanese import" engines came with the peanut version of this head. Large quantities of these used engines were imported in the 80's, so the peanut version is fairly common. These heads usually have 1.25" intake ports and square exhaust ports. 1.65" intake valves. Exhaust valves can be 1.38" or 1.30" W53 closed (with some exceptions) This head is from the Japanese market. Some of these castings are for factory fuel injected engines and have notches in the intake ports to accommodate injectors. 1.25" intake ports and square exhaust ports. 1.65" intake valves and 1.38" exhaust valves. 219 closed The true SSS head from imported used engines or ordered from the Datsun comp. catalog. Later versions could be ordered from the catalog with a V912 casting. 1.50" intake ports, square exhaust ports. 1.65" intake valves and 1.38" exhaust. These are hard to find. Any of the other closed chamber heads can be "converted' to this design by simply opening up the intake port to 1.50" (if that's desired) Some of these heads are marked "A87" on the side, but have "219" cast at the front of the head, just below the timing chain inspection plate. okay maybe they are the same.
  8. try looking in the front under the inspection plate.
  9. if you want it bad enough here it is on evilbay. not mine. http://cgi.ebay.com/Datsun-SSS-510-620-521-520-A87-Rebuilt-Cylinder-Head_W0QQitemZ160413099096QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item25595da458
  10. yeah i know what your thinking, why dont i just make my own or buy a universal. i really dont want to get into that right now so if anyone has a hold down not the early fender stlye, the later long end to end j bolt style. i'm tired of these damn bungee cords.
  11. thats a great idea except at 40 years old they're all special order parts from warehouses. not a regular stock item to match up at the parts house. luckily i live in a town with a place that can make them if you save the old fittings. wolfsco. williams oil filter service company. i would like to know if the dealer or nissan.cc have the right ones. let us know what you find hurley.
  12. i've been wanting to do this seeing that it's super easy. the only hard part is finding a nice flat thick piece of rubber. this sheet came out of a dish washer front panel. the color is more of a charcoal than black but i still like it the original mud flap in the lower right hand corner is only 10 3/4 inch long. very small??? the other one i had i think was home made so the i made 2 sets 10 3/4 and 15 inches. the originals were stapled or rivited on. i'll post another pic when i mount them.
  13. i will shit myself if someone posts their 521 clock!!!!!!!! i dont think anyone on ratsun has one. 521 owners lets see your locking gas door and locking glove box.
  14. best advice ever!!!! when reporting the sale of your car never send it through the mail. do it online and then print out a few copies for yourself. i got a parking bill in the mail for my 1980 audi 4000s i owned like 13 or 15 years ago. the dmv says they dont keep records that long but they did dig something up for me so i didn't have to pay the bill. i let the towing have that car and they must have auctioned it off and the guy never transfered the title. fucker probably still hasn't.
  15. i wish i had been around in the 60's. everything now is all about quantity instead of quality. the golden years for all the good shit is over. everything made these days is junk in my opinion. fucking planned obsolescences has taken over in a bad way. i will have my 70 torino gt fastback again someday. music as a art will never be surpassed from the 60's and 70's. rip randy rhoads!!!!!!! my partner i work with delivering appliances with (and yes all new appliances are junk i dont care if it is a wolf, subzero, viking, thermador, jennair ect) anyway he is like 23 and is in a death metal band but knows more 60's songs and lyrics than i do and i'm 33. so there is hope to keep the golden past alive. i think the really good music will still be listened to 100 years from now cause it cant be reproduced. i mean really who's going to record a album in analog that takes 1 day and last's for hundreds of years. they say history repeats itself but in some cases i dont think so, just cheap imitations. the good stuff will live on (music/mechanics) but will never be recreated.
  16. its that damn master catalog screw up just like the 521 32kb02 inner wheel bearings. all parts stores say they have them but the thread pattern is wrong at every store!!!. my next choice would be nissan.cc but u need to have the factory part number. i'll try to dig it up later. oops my bad i thought you ment the hose itself. the last 2 hoses i bought were the wrong threads. rock auto and schmucks.
  17. i wish (71-521) was still around he would have some good answers for you. all i know is that the 22? bed size is slightly smaller than the 320. i have some pics on my other computer, when i look at them i'll chime back in.
  18. 510 factory/dealer tool box. sold it but unique enough to post. another pic of one with tools in it. gotta be at least one member on here that has one?
  19. gave the work box delivery truck a little bump with my 521 and unknowingly broke the tabs on my hood emblem. got on the freeway on ramp and watched hop over an inch before it blew off a few seconds later. i had to go back and get it so i can double side sticky tape it back on.
  20. nice score. it even has all 4 hub caps. how about a interior pic?
  21. yeah they all get stuck if not moved often enough. take the screw out and the knob off they use some vise grips and slowly move the valve stem clockwise/counter clockwise. if this doesn't work the only way to get it to move and work properly is to take the heater core out and put a wooden dowel through the pipe and hammer it till it comes out. them clean it and reinstall. careful not to twist that white knob off. they go for $20-30 when they come up on ebay once or twice a year. considered a rare 521 part these days.
  22. i think i have the only 2 521's with door jam switches. i used under hood light switches which are the same switch. most are worn but i found a few that are not so worn. 620 door jam switches work too. most datsun switches will work. clean the connector on the back of the switch and bend all the mounting prongs out before installing to insure a snug fit.
  23. great score. how much if you dont mind me asking? does your paint code sticker on the radiator core support say 302? there's one just like this one on ebay right now. color looks the same.
