  1. The choke itself doesn't fail. There are lots of parts involved with the operation of the choke, so I wouldn't say the choke itself is 'bad.' I'm not sure what the proper procedure is on adjusting the choke on a Hitachi. Probably not different from a Weber, where you loosen the three screws around the choke heater and rotate it to open and close the choke plate.
  2. Starter took a shit today while I was out needing the truck. Made it home though!

  3. Getting payed hourly/milage/travel time to re-paint Autozone's parking lot lines across the state today. Makin bank!

  4. Wanna hear the best joke out there?? Obama's presidency. /thread
  5. Welcome! Everytime I hear of someone taking their car to a "old family mechanic'' I can just see the bad news before it happens. Datsun's are easy. With a little help from the forums, you should be able to get that thing running top notch in a weekend with minimal cost. Good luck! And remember to search before posting new threads ;) We have lots of useful information.
  6. We sand it on the plastic. That's how I prepped my side emblems before hand painting them
  7. Think I've hit the jackpot.... found an old man with what I've heard is 15 or more Datsuns behind his house, including either a 520 or 521;

  8. Nope, so I won't be there by any stretch of the imagination
  9. You can count on me not being there this year, unless by some miracle I win the lottery.
  10. I've actually heard of a person's cat being cut off, replaced, and then the replacement stolen. BRAND NEW CONVERTER. Guessing that it was either put on their car, or sold the new one for scrap.
  11. I like the stock grill so much more. Square headlights are just so ugly on these trucks.
  12. I think some of these lazy ass losers need to get a damn job and stop stealing peoples shit to pay for their fuckin drug habits. I always keep my truck within eyesight. Every time someone's walking around my truck at work looking closely at it, I write down their plate number and memorize their face.
  13. Most of them stolen here are just cut out. It's quicker for them to climb under a car in a parking garage, cut it out with a sawzall and drive off. Noisy, but quick. One of my customers (cop) was telling me about it. He watched a guy do it in under 30 seconds on a C1500 before realizing he was stealing the converter and stopped him.
  14. Welcome! That truck is kickass. I absolutely LOVE lifted 620s
  15. Hey pierce, talk to Charlie. I think he still had his 74 he was parting out

Hells yeah! My old boss had a cafe. I think it was a early 70's Honda 750. It was sexy as hell.

      I wish I still had my CB175 :( I LOVE small cafe's!

Jon, i've been working on an old 75 Kawasaki KV100. But I lost the key :(

  17. Practice/prep is important. I used a cheap $20 Harbor freight HVLP with a 20 gallon compressor and it was a great setup. I spent a lot of time researching and learning using spare paints before spraying anything important though. It's easy to catch on to once you get the ball rolling.
  18. Thanks man! Hoping to get it better soon. Well, I didn't modify it to fit (buddies) but it looked like he took a grinder and opened up one or two of the lug holes on the fender roller, and mounted it on two of the top studs on the hub.
  19. http://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=B&Category_Code=bre_datsun_body_parts They sell it in Carbon for $112 extra,
  20. Oh come on man, my trucks 3 different shades of rust, two shades of yellow, and orange fender. Come chill! Nothing better then some motivation to kick you in gear! We've already managed a good number of 620's meeting up at once. Noone cares what shape they're in as long as it's old and cool.
