I would love to. I haven't seen any 520/521s for sale out here on the wrong coast. After I got the 620 I saw a 521 for the first time and knew I had made a mistake :P

I just had to replace my fuse box too. I bought one of those new ones off eBay from "designguu" it was $24.77 plus shipping. Shipping from Thailand is expensive, so I order a couple more things from them and sent them a "request total" and they combined shipping for me. I'm surprised, it's good quality. It says "Niles Japan" on it, and it came with a new metal mounting plate and the plastic cover. The only thing I did to it was; I opened up the securing...

prongs at the base of the fuse terminals (the ones that hold the terminals in place). They were a little loose, but now they are in there tight.

  2. Good news: I don't have to sell my 620 cause TN will issue me a new title using my GA paperwork. Bad News: Now I have 7 months to have both datsuns on the road. Gotta love moving.

      You moved to TN??

  3. Anyone know if any companies still carry the oval port single DCOE manifolds for A-series engines? Pierce says NLA for the mani but has the single DCOE "kit" and Alamo says they don't know if they have a kit anymore. They are checking and supposedly will call me back.

  4. Is it wrong that I am thinking about buying rotas? I really like the skakotans and can't figure out if they are a rip off of a rare wheel or actually a rota specific design.

Thank you Indy. I'm still torn on them because rotas do have a bad rap, but I've never seen rotas fail like other reps. Wonder if its harder to find hayashi streets or advan a3as :P

      Kirden

Nevermind. found the hayashi usa site.

dont buy Rotas, buy real wheels. At worst you spend a grand.

  5. Will 280z struts and brake components fit behind 13in barrel wheels? Looking for the best possible front brake upgrade that will fit behind 13in advan a3as for the B210.

I have 13" A3A's on my wagon with 280zx struts. They clear the barrel Fine. Problem is the back of the face of the Wheel locks up on the face of the caliper. I had to run a really small spacer for it to clear, I dont remember the size but its not even a 1/4".

Draynor has Advans...280zx brakes. But not super wide.

  6. I'm giving in. Going to get the B210 running first then dumping money into a KA swap. Wanting a KAE-R. Now I need to find a busted hardbody with a KAE to buy.

    1. Kirden

      Kirden

And why do scrap yards want $700 for a KAE with 160k+ miles?

ive got a twin cam that needs to be rebuilt if your not dead set on single cam

  7. Well, found out I have to work tomorrow night and possibly next Friday. If so that will put me at 56 hours of overtime. Time for a one piece driveshaft and matchbox for the 620 :)

  8. Why does everyone try tempting me into molesting my B210 with a KA... I'm trying to stay away from the speed bug and all I can see is my B210 on its little 13 inch pizza cutters going sideways in some distant parking lot, and I kinda want it...

  9. Anyone know if dual SU's using the GX manifold will hit the brake booster on a US spec B210? I know I can't run dual DCOEs without a remote master cyl install or the wilwood pedal box.

    1. graveltrapp

      graveltrapp

I don't think that the carbs will hit but you may have to make/modify a filter setup. I just this week got a GX head, intake, carbs and filter. It was off a 1200 but should be same.

    2. Kirden

      Kirden

I'm not sure about the head specs, but if I'm not mistaken the GX head is supposed to flow better than my H89. Would you mind sending me pics of the intake and carb setup? I'm still trying to figure out what carb setup I want to run.

  10. So I'm looking at possible wheel options and I was wondering if anyone is running 14x7 wheels with 185/55/14s on a B210? If so, what offset are you running?

    1. Show previous comments  3 more
    2. Dguy210

      Dguy210

+10 is a pretty low offset, you can probably get away with a bit more if you need to depending on your front disk setup. Of course you can always roll your fenders too if you have some close but not quite wheels. 185/55/14 is a small wheel at stock height it won't even come near the wheel wells. I currently run 15X6 +10 with rolled fenders and 205/60s on the back and it just fits. I did get a tiny rub in one spot on one side if I totally bottom out (full car and big bump) so damn rare.

    3. Dguy210

      Dguy210

I've run 14X7 with a bigger tire previously and a worse offset and they fit okay. 15s are a lot easier to get tires for than 14s though.

    4. Kirden

      Kirden

Yea, I've noticed. I would go for 15s, but I rarely see the wheels I want in 15s. Plenty of 13 and 14s but no 15s. Thats the problem with wanting a specific wheel :P

  11. Looking at new toys. Northern tool why you no give me credit card?

haha, that would be awesome. I'm drooling over welders and torches at the moment. Really need some decent fabrication tools.

  12. So on the 11th I'm moving the B210 to my new place. The engine isn't locked up and I have a ton of parts for it, but now I'm stuck at a crossroad. For a new, properly jetted 32/36 from redline I'm looking at about $340. Now I may be able to have a manifold made for R1 carbs for $100 and the carbs will cost me $150, but they would need to be rejetted and I'd have to have them tuned, so probably $400 total. Sadly the hitachi is trashed so I have to go one...

    1. laotsu

      laotsu

I got a 32/36 that prolly needs a rebuild. PM me.

  13. So luckily things are looking up. I didn't even sell any parts. My boss came to me and offered me 52 hours of overtime for the next three weeks and the promotion I had planned for a year ago is finally in the works. Looks like my career will begin soon. Thank everyone for their prayers. The 620 brake brackets are still for sale if anyone is interested.

  14. Well, finally hit rock bottom. Having to sell off parts for my projects and will probably have to let the projects themselves go soon. Its been an absolutely shitty month.

military is on the table, I have to drop the weight first but it has ben an option for the last couple months. I've dropped 20, still need another 40lbs gone before I'm boot camp weight.

  15. The 620 is going down for a while. I'll update the build thread as to why but it really sucks not having a running datsun...

No shit! Havn't driven my 620 for 7 months. re-doing front end after being hit and ripping out smog and re-doing motor etc. I feel ya man!!!

  16. Will an L20B alternator mount fit an L18 and position the alternator correctly? Probably a stupid question, but I'm full of those so what's new right? Anyways, I ask because the L20B mount has larger bolts and I had to put bushings in my alt (79 200sx internally reg) to use the L18 mount without breaking bolts. I would prefer to get an L20B mount if possible.

      I have one hanging around.

it will work with the updated alt bracket. i am running a 720 alt on my 73 620 and no issues. i was running a Z 60 amper on my L16 but had to use the newer alt bracket.

    3. Kirden

      Kirden

Thanks moparvwfreak, I figured it would work but wanted to make sure before buying another part.

  17. Ugh, the same bolt that we replaced for the lower part of the alternator about 4 months ago broke again. Snapped the belt cause it went too loose and rupped itself to death at 75mph. This was a grade 8 bolt, anyone know what grade I actually need to hold the alternator on?

Titanium beats Stainless Steel any day!

    3. datsunaholic

      datsunaholic

Stainless isn't that strong. Grade 8 should have been more than sufficient. It's breaking due to excessive vibration. usually due to the bolts being too small for the alternator (holes in alternator ears larger than the bolt, common issue when using a newer alt on a L16 mount). You need a bushing in the alt to prevent that, or use a later mount with larger bolts. Also seen excessive vibration from folks going "fancy" with the upper adjuster (using turnbuckles, etc). or e...

    4. Kirden

      Kirden

thanks guys, I'll be sure to look into making a bushing. I know the belt wasn't over tensioned. It was actually more loose than the previous belt because we couldn't get it to tighten as much in the rain. The vibration part makes the most sense. I'm using the stock upper arm for the alt, but the holes for the mount are a bit larger from what I remember.

  18. Woot, on the hunt for a 4 seater auto datsun for the gf. So far I really hope she likes 910/maximas :P

  19. Log in and see I have 47 notifications. I'm all happy "someone loves me!" then I realize that they are all for deernelgnom and Neallyfealt liking the same post over and over. Are these bots or was that post really so good that is has to be liked 47 times in a few days?

  20. I'm tempted to freshin up the L20B I have and slap it into the 620 with my 5-speed by the end of the month. That would put my engine build on the back burner, but I've never driven an L20 and the 4 speed is getting really sloppy.

  21. Finally figured out my "starter" issue. Replaced the starter a while back and still had some issues. Turns out the ignition switch (ghetto rigged) has broke saulder points on the back. So now I hold the saulder points and the truck cranks or shocks me.
