five1oh
So after cleaning up and painting it was time for a transplant this past Saturday. My friend Peter came by and drove his 510 of course! He was a HUGE help. It took 4 of us to push it into the garage as I made a mistake and left the ebrake on for 8 months WHOOPS. Once in the garage the transmission was the first to be pulled followed by the hood and then the engine. total time was about 4 hours start to finish including putting the car back on the side yard. We only put the motor in so far. Thought about the transmission (KA) but wasn't ready to cut the tunnel.....thinking of selling it or trading for a 200sx (fs5w63a) in order to preserve the originality. Let me know if anyone has a trans I can pick up. THANKS! five1oh
So the day I went to get the motor with Tyler my son (4 years old) and his friend thought it was a good idea to play on top of my cars so I came home to the following............thankfully they didn't do any major damage but I was pretty disapointed. 50 year old paint and the car is only original once. Plan is to get paint correction and paintless dent removal so we will see how it turns out. They played on top of the red shell first which is how the red smudges got on my white car................uggh Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 1 Quote Link to comment
BrothersGarage
48 month late term abortion? 😄 Fortunately there doesn't look like there is any creasing from any dents so those should come out pretty easy, and it should make for a funny story when he's older. Quote Link to comment

Abe Froman
You need to turn the neck in the head to point to the firewall and the heater hose will go right on, then pull the neck out of the block and put a plug back in it. Look at the L16 you pulled out. Quote Link to comment

Should line up perfect. Mine does at least. 1 Quote Link to comment

mrbigtanker
Andrew, I have the same issue with my ermish header, very close and had to take my steering box out to install, what a nightmare. It will clear but close. I also cut it and installed a V band clamp because it turns in the transmission. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thankfully because I have no transmission in the car I was able to tilt the engine forward until I could sneak it through. I will need to check out the turn and modify prior to getting the trans in. Oh well. 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
Things should be picking up soon on this car since I dropped off #SHAKOTN at my parents to free up garage space....................I am making a HUGE pivot and this car is going 100% stock and will likely be sold at some point...... Sucks that I already swapped the motor but good thing I didn't cut anything yet 🙂 Stock wheels freshly powdercoated with new tires back on 🙂 Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 3 Quote Link to comment
DARIN 510
Yes!!! I’m glad you changed your mind. This car deserves to be left stock. Time capsule. 🙌 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
so after months of neglect I finally decided to get off my ass and get to work lol. I degreased the motor a week ago and then I decided I wanted to swap the motor back in this weekend so the first step was to paint the motor last Thursday: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Quote Link to comment
five1oh
Next step was making room for the car in the garage. This is the first time these 2 510's have shared the garage 🙂 Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
