Madness
Go to Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart :fu: , or anywhere that sells Krylon spray paint and pick up a can of Yellow X-Metals paint. (Although i think they are going to discontinue it  ) Spray right onto your current headlights. Multiple light coats are best. Let it dry and spray on a few coats of Clear Dupli-color Engine Enamel. The more coats of clear the more durable it will be. There you go, a cheap easy way to get yellow headlights. From testing on several vehicles, the paint does a pretty good job of holding on even though its on glass. Just don't be tailgating any dump trucks. Quote Link to comment
Bob3
COOL ! Thanks for the idea.;) Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
yeah, pretty cool. Did you scuff them before painting? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Scuffing would make them opaque like a frosted 60 watt bulb. Definitely de-grease. Maybe a coat of clear first if it holds better. Then the tint and then the clear.?? Quote Link to comment
Jester
That looks pretty sweet. I might just try that. Get the look but still have high beams that are worth a shit. Thanks Madness. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Stained glass paint will also work. Remember with every coat it will get a bit darker. Thanks for the writeup & pix. D-mike your right just degrease 1st then spray away. Quote Link to comment

71DIMER
Yeah I used this small $20 can of this Japanese glass paint. I bought it at some import shop. Here's some old pics of when I first did mine about 16 months ago. One thing to remember is that this paint doesn't hold up to the sun all that well. They faided pretty bad so I just hit them up again with a few coats and they're good as new. Beats paying big bucks to get the 'look'. Here they are before: First Coat: Second Coat: Third Coat: Fourth Coat: Fifth Coat (ran out): All Dry On Dime: Edited November 17, 2008 by 71DIMER Quote Link to comment

71DIMER
OH CRAP...I just remembered that the ones I did first (in above post) I did using a $20 Japanese headlight paint...you'll find some on ebay or some import shops. I say don't waste your money. I did these below for my 521 with regular old Krylon stained glass paint, it's a lot cheaper and you get a LOT more than that tiny $20 can. Sorry for any confusion. No problem, here's some regular old style Sylvania sealed beams I did for my old 521...using a stained glass paint. I saw no difference between the two. Here they are OFF: Here they are ON: On both of my Ratsuns Edited November 17, 2008 by 71DIMER I remembered which paint I used on these. Quote Link to comment
ariascarlos1990
Or you could get the film and do it this way. They wont fade, chip, ware off, or anything like that! Quote Link to comment
Madness
Hobby shops have a lot of really cool candy colors that can be used on anything clear. If you want tint, look for RC car spray window tint. It holds up really well because it etches itself into the plastic. I used the testors red candy on my 92 GTI back in the day and it still looked good for years after. Quote Link to comment

I'd love to see your lights upclose, can you post some upclose pics? Is the film perfectly smooth and see thru or is it hazy and crimped around the lights? Quote Link to comment
