Angela
Hello all you fellow Ratsuners, Just thought I'd share about my interior project that has taken a few long years to finally realize. Some of you might remember me asking for leads on finding vinyl material for the solid & rosette pattern in the original aqua/turquoise blue. I looked & looked & scoured the web, local shops, asked folks at car shows & anybody else I could think of that might be able to help me replicate the original stock interior in my 'Goon. I ordered samples that ended up being too green or too blue, or too silvery. Finally, I found a swatch that was the closest I could come to. Medium Metallic Blue. I'll have to ask my upholstery guy the name of the manufacturer we ordered from 'cos there were so many we got samples from that I forgot who actually had what I needed. I went to a place local to me in San Luis Obispo, CA called Mitch's Stitches for the actual work. I also had him install the headliner that I'd bought a few years ago from eBay. Since the windshield and rear cargo windows would need to come out for the headliner install, I took the opportunity to also install the windshield I'd bought from Mike at the Eagle Rock show last year. A few years before that, I'd also bought the complete rubber seal kit from Mike Kay before he passed so I got to test out the product. All I can say about that is "there's nothing like the originals" I'm not too impressed with the windshield/cargo window seals...especially for the price. Oh, & one last thing...I had Mitch cut the heat embossed "Nissan" imprint from the original headrests & stitch it into the new headrests. I'm really glad I thought to do that. Let me know what ya think. Here are some before, during & after pictures. I had many more but for some reason I got an error message saying I've posted more than I'm allowed to (WTF?) Thanks for lookin' 10 Quote Link to comment

Angela
Nice work, love that blue interior! I fell in love with it's original blue too. That's why it took so long & I was hell bent on finding the best match I could. Took almost 2 yrs. SMS in Oregon said they could make the material but others that I talked to (including my upholstery guy) said they require payment in full up front but it can take up to 2 yrs for them to get around to it. No bueno. 1 Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
Sweet! Looks awesome! Do you have a breakdown invoice of the cost/item? I need to have my 521 seat redone at some point... 1 Quote Link to comment
Angela
Hey Matt, no I didn't get a breakdown invoice of each item but I can give you a loose breakdown of what all was done, etc. I pre-purchased enough material to do all the door cards & rear panels in my wagon, had him reupholster the 2 front seats, rear back seat & rear cargo wheel humps & install the headliner I bought & recover/reinforce the sun visors with extra material that came with the headliner...that job itself required him to remove the windshield & rear cargo windows so while he was at it, I went ahead & had him replace the rubber seals on those windows as well as the windshield & replace the windshield with a new one I bought last year. So all of that...the upholstery vinyl material, reupholstery & restoration of the front/rear seats (spring repair & foam added), reupholstery of cargo humps, installation of headliner, reupholstery & restoration of sun visors, removal & installation of windshield & cargo windows cost me a grand total of $2,500. It's spendy, but I felt the results were well worth it.Hope this info is helpful.-Angela 1 Quote Link to comment

Hey there wfirebaugh, Thank you for the kind comments. Sounds like we have original matching 510's. Mine was also born blue on blue & still sports the original carpet in navy blue. There is not a website that I know of for getting "factory replacement seats". I had mine reupholstered by a real talented guy near my hometown. Mitch is the owner/operator of Mitch's Stitches. http://www.mitchsstitches.com Tell him Angela sent you & he can tell ya where to order the material, etc so if you found an upholstery shop you want to have do the work...you can have it done. Hope that helps. Take care, -Angela 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
Nice interior. How long have you had the wagon? I had a wagon like that before, same color and black vinyl top. 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks RacerX, I've had it for about 7 years now. She used to have a blue vinyl top but when I got her, all that was left of it remained on only the back hatch. I found a NOS vinyl top in the exact same color so eventually I'd like to put that on. For now, she's just got a rattle can paint job in navy blue on top. I like the contrast. What year was yours & why did ya let her go? 1 Quote Link to comment
