My 62' 312 runs!!!!

Recommended Posts

Today I fabbed up an adapter to mount a Nash Metropolitan carb onto my 62' 312 Bluebirds stock intake.

After getting rid of a profusely leaking aftermarket oil cleaner setup, I fired it up. A few pufs, and then it came to life! This car is running the *wrong* L-16 dizzy, and the *wrong* Nash Metro carb, hasn't run for 16 years.........yet it fired and then settled into a nice smooth idle. I was thinking, "Holy crap, it's frickin actually running!" I was so stoked you have no idea. That just made my entire week.

i agree people park vehicles for the stupidest reasons my 56 chevy was parked because it was leaking brake fluid:blink: i have all new wheel cylinders master cylinder and lines what did it cost me a whole $200 and its all BRAND NEW!!!! $500 for the truck (cause they couldnt fix it) and 200 in hydrolics i got myself a 56 chevy 3/4 ton for $700 try that in autotrader its just not happening

anyway great to see it runs who cares if the parts are "wrong" they work dont they? and there is always later to replace things

congrats! i love it when a "project" fires for the first time.

i cant say much though i have parked cars for stupid reasons. mainly MONEY being the reason. my caprice was parked due to bad front brakes. $178 worth of parts and it will be back on the road.caprice is the next project to get running. my wifes 68 dart was parked due to a blown rear diff, which i have the parts for but now needs a whole lot more stuff. so its all good though.

...didn't nash use the mg motor...same as datsun did(licensed copy) around the same time??

Do you have pics of up the 312 itself?

I'm pretty sure he posted a thread a while back when he first got it. If I remember correctly it had a boss 302 sticker on the side of it.

He should repost anyways.

That's killer, Bro.

I salute you.

That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Ya shoulda seen the salesman's face when I told him

"I'm putting this Holley 2 Bbl on a Nissan Z24 NAPS engine".

He said, "That's not goin' to work, is it?".

Tell THAT to the BMW Z3 owners I woke up...

I told him, "You need to quit believing everything you read in carcraft".

I actually have a Nash Metro intake as well, but it won't fit with the 312's exhaust manifold, and the carb mounting angle is off by a couple degrees. It will bolt right to the engine though. I also have a VW carb I was going to use. I wanted a carb that had parts availability, and was super simple......while the Nash carb parts also aren't the easiest to find, they are still available through Metropolitan specialists for a reasonable price.
