My air dam has been destoryed 3 times, 2 times by semi re-tread on the freeway, and i re-fiberglass her every time and put her back on.

I worry less about what happens to my lips if I should hit something ....... And fret way more what it did to my aprons....... Lips can be replaced, sheetmetal ain't so fun

Yah lip getting damaged is just a fact of life, its not if it will happen, its WHEN it will happen.

Broke mine at mounting location one of two from a semi tire on the freeway. My dime is just low enough that the spook clears those cement parking blocks.

 

I plastidipped that spook to give some rigidity.

I mounted mine with flexible anchors for the pop-rivets so it would just pop loose if it touched. So no damage to the sheet metal or to the dam. Just pushing it back on was good to go.

I searched for air dams and this thread looks like the closest thing.

My air dam is intact on my 510, but I wanted a spare or two so I bought a mold a few years ago. It is a great looking air dam mold that was being used for road race 510s. It has two round ducts.

Now I see that this 510 air dam would probably also fit my '75 Toyota Chinook. I was going to fabricate something but a bolt-on would be great.

 

The point is that I haven't worked with fiberglass or carbon fiber. If there is another 510 fan nearby (Seattle area) that is good with fiberglass maybe we could collaborate.

 

I'll try to click a photo of the mold next time I'm out to my shop. If interested PM me.

DAW, try to contact kmc63, he makes some fiberglass parts for 510's and such, he lives on the evrette area and I'm sure can answer some questions for you.
