G-Duax
A bug with an Aisin AMR500 Supercharger. I wonder if it's one I sold ? Imported hundreds of those things over the years, some went on small car engines, some went on large bike engines. 1 Quote Link to comment

Wanted a V8 rules said could only have 4. It was notoriously unreliable and only managed to complete a few races before they scrapped the program. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
A friend who had a bike shop described this engine to me years ago. A cylinder has the least surface area so not as thermally efficient but not a big deal if racing. Quote Link to comment

Honda tried that to increase valve area, to get the benefits of a V8, while staying in the FIA regulation of a max of 4 cylinders. Surface area was actually more than a 4-cylinder of the same displacement, with the same stroke. They also had a prototype that had oval valves. But unfortunately was a complete failure on the track....I think the engineer in charge of that thing is either sweeping floors at the factory now, or committed seppuku. Quote Link to comment
