125 CSL
Watching NHRA. Wonder how these guys keep going the stands are at best half filled. NHRA is not on TV all the time like it was when I was kid. interesting side note, lot of women driving these days. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Gone are the days when you went to Hertz and rented a Mustang for the weekend and went to the drag races. Probably too expensive for a 'real' muscle car. My brand new '70 Dart 340 was $3,150. The options added to about $150 Timing slip said 14.20 @93 in the 1/4. Ricer shit just doesn't compare to a V8 sound. 3 Quote Link to comment

q-tip
Shit Ford* doesn't even sponsor any nhra cars, not to mention it's something like $60 a head to get in the place. Quote Link to comment
125 CSL
Lot of the cars did not have sponsors. Would have to dig into it to see how much of the gate goes to the teams. Can see why the tickets are $60. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
I doubt any of it goes to the teams other than the winnings. It's mostly about the advertisement of have you name plastered on a car that does 300mph. Quote Link to comment

It's mostly about the advertisement of have you name plastered on a car that does 300mph. As always the show only covered bikes, pro stock, top fuel funny and drag cars, of those cars around 1/3 did not have a sponsor. One heck of a lot of out of pocket just to make the show and walk away with nothing. Quote Link to comment

VFR800
Australia is priced oil wise for the Tapis crude (Singapore) not the broader market prices and yet Australia has massive oil reserves of which many are capped and we could refine our own oil and not even need to buy any from O/S. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think we hit $1.55 a while back. I try not to work it out while I'm filling up. Not sure how the Australian dollar compare to CDN. It still hurts. Quote Link to comment
