Waaay coool! That is the one that was on Lewiston CL, right? Some us up here in Lincoln County were watching that ad, but the distance to Lewiston is about the same as for you, but we have to climb the Lewiston grade right at the start of the trip.  Any problems on the drive home? Auto tranny (can't remember if the ad said)? AC?

'78 510 parts car, if you want to travel a bit: http://spokane.craigslist.org/bar/3969826707.html

I doubt the driver's door is the same, but don't really know.

Nice, man! And turbines too...  mmmmhhhhmmm

Banner is keeping the turbines.

I don't like turbines much-but they look sooo good on this car.

Anyone got some 7 or 8 inch wide slots?

Or low offset wide steels?

This is the one. Banner used to own the car and gave it to the owner. Owner placed the ad and he contacted her. They struck up a deal.

Adam and I went and got it today.

It is auto. Ran great. Has issues. Meh.

It does have AC. But belt is not on-do not know condition of the AC system.

I will compile a list of wants and needs tomorrow when I can properly assess the car.

I have been looking at that A10. Been thinking about it. That is such a long drive with a trailer though.

Also-I did get meet 420620/Kim today. He has a non-titled A10 4dr hatch sitting in his yard!

I will be doing all I can to be on his good side.

Eyes up for A10s. LMK.

I'll let you know if anything shows up. Sadly there are lots fewer Datsuns at P&S than there were just a few years ago. Mostly 620s and 280Zs now. The dogleg in my 510 came out of an A10 like that Omak one. But that was awhile back. Too bad I didn't know to get all the windows from it.

I'm in the middle of nowhere, about 50 miles west of Spokane. Close enough to the Spokane Pull n Saves to make the trip every week or two.

Sounds like near Hartline or Almira, I have a photo of Hartline in a cloud shadow, from almost 10,000 feet, I used to try and fly hanggliders from Lake Chelan to Spokane every summer, I made it a couple times, once all the way to North Spokane to a road called something like "5 mile".

Here it is, the big shadow is Hartline, you can see the hiway coming from the right from Coulee city I believe and going right into Hartline.

Ahhh now i get the weird seat question.. The rear of the seat rail were on a pedestals made of 1/2 inch all-thread and nuts for height. And the matching back seats won`t fit anything newer than 1978 because the latch system is completely different, so they are of no real use to you, but he`s more of an accumulator than seller anyways,, so you would probably have to kill him to get them.

What does it need?? there`s one at Lynnwood WA Pick n pull that is posted in wrecking yard report. It looks to have dent in drivers door like yours.

Don`t listen to those knuckleheads that say take off the bumpers.. the car will thank you.

and welcome

I will go over the car thoroughly tomorrow and compile the start of a needs list.

i was actually thinking a 720 bumper might work on this. Get rid of the rubber corners.

We were thinking of the 720 bumper swap as well,, never came across a cheap(free) straight one to try it though... If you swap it will be the only one cuz we bagged the idea... I think i almost have FAT510 talked into a truck push bar..

A push bar might work pretty good for my needs.

And as far as a 720 bumper-I just need to park next to one with a tape measure in hand. They look real close.

Should be a fun car.

There are definitely things that need fixing-but I'm not going for some concours winner. Just a good, reliable, fun car.

I'm pretty stoked. Thanks for lookin, Hamuck!

Almira/Hartline - Yikes! That IS the middle of nowhere. That is a cool pic of the area.  I'm in Harrington, the first town south of Davenport.

I've got a friend who used to hangglide and he has mentioned Lake Chelan, although I can't remember if he ever had a chance to fly from there. He moved up to gas powered trikes. Now he has an electric trike. Yeah I thought he was joking when he first told me, but I've seen the thing. That is how I knew about lithium battery fires before Boeing discovered it. His trike has a safety release for the battery.  If it catches fire, the pilot pulls a pin and drops the flaming battery onto whatever happens to be below him. Actually a lith battery specialist in Spokane told Martin the thing won't catch fire in use, just while being charged on the ground, so never charge it in a building. So far the electric trike has made it off the ground, but can't get much lift. He is messing with the balance point of the wing or something trying to get it to fly better. At times he mentions going back to hanggliders.

I always thought an ultralight would be great for flying over farms to look for cars behind the barn that aren't visible from the road. That is where my 510 came from, although I heard about it from a grain trucker who hauled wheat from the farm. My F10 is another farm find. I'm sure there are dozens (maybe hundreds) of dead Datsuns in E WA that can't be seen from the road.

Tell me about the drive train on this beauty.

.

H-165B 3.364 ratio differential with coil spring and four link suspension so lots to improve on there as there are 3.90 ratios available.

Four or optional five speed available, both were closer ratio than the L20B equipped A10s. 200mm clutch.

'80 and on US cars got the Z20S NAPS motor (Canada kept the L20B for one more year) it should have the 4 plug head and EI dizzy similar to the L20B EI if an '80. '81 should have the two plug heads.
